Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I finally convinced my wife to have Pizza with us (it looked so good)... but it was mediocre at best. Ordered a salad... that was not much better. Too bad

Truffle shuffle pizza with mozzarella, crumbled goat cheese, and white-truffle-oil marinated portobello mushrooms; finished with sliced green onions. Baked in a 700 degree oven with a charred crust. Pizza does not get much better than this. Now, to find a grain free recipe without losing the flavor or texture. Yummy! Oh yeah, best beer for us was Hop Lava IPA, the Vaporizer and Black Irish were wonderful. The beer we least enjoyed was the Prairie Schooner but we enjoy bigger brews All tasters of course!
(5)Sean G.
Definitely a triple F rating - Fantastic pizza, Fantastic service and Fantastic beer. Would recommend the vaporizer beer with the truffle shuffle pizza. Also, if you come in dazed and confused from the hot summer sun the server will definitely be able to guide you through the decision process.

We stopped in for lunch today while passing through town. The atmosphere, view and service are fantastic. And the beer is quite good. My wife and I split the sausage and mushroom pizza. It was very good. My kids had the BLT and kid's ham & cheese. We really enjoyed our visit!
(4)Jack B.
Double Mountain's beers are pretty good (I like the Vaporizer) but there are better in the area. The pizza is ok but not great. (much prefer Solstice in HR, ESPECIALLY with kids.) Like most HR restaurants you might be better off hitting DM at off peak hours, especially if you have large party or kids. Waiting outside for an hour than another hour waiting for our food (even just french fries for the kids) was a drag.

We went out of our way to come back to Double Mountain. They remodeled since we were here last and the place is three times as big. Their beers are incredible. We had a sampler and particularly loved the Molten Lava and Clusterf@ck, but all were solid "I'd order again" brews. The staff are super friendly and knowledgable and make the experience just incredible. Between the great brews and proximity to mountains and the river, I'm tempted to buy a place in Hood River and call it home!

Service was okay- took too long to get drinks ordered. We did not eat here so I can't comment on the food. We sat in the bar area and ordered a flight of tasters as we had not been here before. I enjoyed the environment and they had a fridge decorated with boards of their previous beers. It was kinda cool to go through and read them all. I didn't particularly appeal to any of the beers but they weren't too bad either. Wish we coulda tried the pizza, yelpers report it being good.

We might have just come on an unlucky day but we waited forever to receive both our drinks and our pizza. The server was nice but clearly there was an issue with the back of the house. Other people returned their pizzas and we kept ours but it was burnt, greasy and watery. Not a good pizza - we definitely won't be back. Too bad because we were excited to try it seeing all the good reviews!

GREAT IPA WITH BEST WOOD FIRED PIZZA! Best pairing of an an IPA (Hop Lava, my fav) with wood fired pizza I've had from Portland out the Columbia Gorge to Hood River. Double Mountain pizza is comparable to the Mario Batali's restaurant, Mozza, Pasadena. Thin crust, good toppings, nice balance of cheese and sauce. Awesome! Take a hike in the Gorge then do pizza in HR.
(5)Tracy G.
Great pizza! We stopped in after a long day of hiking with our dogs, they have outdoor seating and leave buckets of water out for the dogs. If you have to wait for an outdoor table like we did, you can order beer while you wait they just ask that you stay next to the building. Very simple menu, no cocktails just beer and wine. Pizza was great, salad was just ok.

So...Hood River is a summer place that up until the last 10 years was off most people's radar. It won't take long to figure out that a lot of Gen-Xers and Millenials come here for the water sports, and a great by-product to that is the town is developing quality breweries, with Double Mountain being, in my humble opinion, the best of the lot. Everything about this place rocks. The layout of the pub, the food, and the beer. Come here in July or August on a Saturday night and you will never want to leave. You might end up joing the river folk. Lively, friendly, and selling quality products. Their pizzas are a menu feature, but much like Fort George in Astoria or Crux Fermentation Project in Bend, you can't go wrong with anything really. One of Oregon's top five all-around breweries, and considering the depth of the brewery industry in my home state, that's saying a lot. If you are in Portland during the summer, Double Mountain and the other Hood River breweries are worth the 45 minute drive east.

Very nice people!! I actually messed up my soda adding cheese mistaking it for sugar (I know what you're thinking!) They offered to replace it for me without even me asking for it.. As for the food, the pizza was good too..

One of my all around favorite Oregon breweries, and I finally got to visit their tap room in Hood River. Got a giant sampler, with everything they had on tap (15, I think). I'd had about half of them before, but the new ones were mostly good, too. I had the meatball sandwich, and it was awesome. I'm told the pizza was also pretty great. We were bellied up to the bar, and the service was very good. All around great experience, and a must stop if you're brewery touring in Hood River.

One comes to Portland knowing that you will find really great beer. Heck even the surrounding areas will find you really great beer. Double Mountain is one such place in a state that has more breweries and brew pubs per square mile than anywhere else in the country. Throw a stone and you will find something good to drink. Hood River is a quiet, little town with all sorts of shops, restaurants and an art gallery, but I wanted a beer. Got here yesterday and didn't have the opportunity and so this was the first brewery we saw and so that's where we ended up. This is a nice little spot that offers up tours on Saturday afternoons but being this was Friday afternoon we just came in for a tasty beverage. The brother and I went for the darkest beer they had on tap, a brown ale called Ramble On 5.2%ABV. They had many ale choices including Hop Lava, a strong IPA, a Kolsch, The Vaporizer which is a dry hopped ale, and India Red, and one called Clusterf#ck which was a single hopped ale. All great choices I'm sure, but the brown ale truly hit the spot. A very well balanced beer that was full of flavor. I'm a dark beer guy, and so the darker the better, and this was a great one to have. I can't wait to try more beer on this trip. After spending an hour or so over at Multnomah Falls, this was a good place to stop off at and relax. It looks like local musicians come in and perform there so that's gotta be a great option for the weekends.

Pizza. If you love thin crust, bubbly and even slightly charred pizza - this place is for you! It is baked in a 700f oven! We began our meal with a large greek salad - excellent and perfect for two vegetable eaters such as my husband and I. Pizza - we ordered a half sausage/onion/mushroom and half Buffy. Both sides were delicious but very distinctly different. The sausage side was savory and rich tasting. The Buffy was lighter, tangy from goat cheese and a slight sweetness from peppers. Beverages - my husband ordered their Sacre Bleu (loved it). I opted for the 1/2 prosecco which thankfully was Brut (dry) style. I like my prosecco like I like champagne - dry. The prosecco went beautifully with the salad and pizza. We ended up taking half the pizza with us - great for lunch the next day. A band was playing at 9pm that Friday when we rolled in. The band was good too. I'd recommend not sitting near the performance/dance space bar... well if you want to hear your date. This place is a local hotspot for travelers and locals a like - so be prepared to wait for a table.

I love this place way more than I ever should. It's our go to stop between McCall Idaho and a Olympia WA. We stay at a west end hotel and walk down to the brewery through the wonderful neighborhood. Pizza is always on point delicious and the brew is smooth, cold and perfection. Atmosphere can be very busy and loud but we just go a bit earlier and don't seem to have a problem getting our favorite seat. We will go back again and again, it's such a great treat!

I'll give this review 5 stars in hope that it makes it to the recommended review section. I'll urge you to fond the reviews that are not recommended and read about the lousy service and rude staff.
(5)Bree B.
This guys lady friend had the Fa La La beer... It was lacking in taste, the place was very packed for a Christmas Eve .. Had our ok-not great- beers and went to dinner... Pizza looked good but in general this is a pass based on beer taste alone...
(2)Jim R.
Great beers with lots of choices. This place gets bigger and bigger every time I visit. Ordered a pizza and loved it. This is a must stop anytime I'm near good river...actually this time I drove from Ellensburg to enjoy a beer or two and one of my favorite pizzas.
(5)Sol A.
This place is awesome. Def 5 star compared to Full Sail. Go to Full Sail first then come to Double Mountain. You'll give it 5 stars too. Beer is solid. The scene is low key. I didn't have any food but it looked delicious. Sweet spot. In fact, get beer faced here and cause a scene at Full Sail, that place is a joke.

Excellent wood fired pizza, great servers.

I use to love coming to this place as a local. Enjoyed the pizza, beer and atmosphere. The last two times I visited were completely awful. Being that I know some of the staff very well I like to give bad service the benefit of the doubt-it was busy, they had a bad day, miscommunication. Unfortunately, I had two REALLY bad experiences 4 months apart. All with the same server, Joe, who surprisingly happens to be the manger. My first bad encounter with Joe caused me and my boyfriend to have to go eat at Taco Bell because there wasn't another restaurant open by the time he realized he never put in our pizza order. He never came back to table to check on our beers, never asked how we were doing, yet he walked past us numerous times. Like I said, I probably waited a little longer to speak up because I gave Joe the benefit of the doubt. He knows my name and my face, how could he possibly not remember to put my pizza order in especially if he is walking past me. So I go to Double for the second time in 4 months, thinking there is no way my bad experience can be trumped. Joe just happens to be my server, I'm sitting right next to the door- you CAN'T miss me. I thought, "he'll be better this time, you can't mess up that bad twice". I order two pizzas, Joe brings out one and after my party eats the entire first pizza we start to question the status of the second. I thought to myself, "Oh no, this can't be happening again. Maybe he just really doesn't like me and this is his way of getting me to not ever want to come back", then I talk myself out of that thought and again give him the benefit of the doubt. My boyfriend on the other hand knows he definitely messed up, calls him over and yep, he sure did. He never even placed the order for the second pizza and turns out he just combined two orders. We were so hungry we didn't realize that he added both toppings to one pizza. Joe reassures us that the other pizza will be out in 5-10 minutes, he's so sorry for the mess up. 35 minutes go by and our second pizza finally comes out. Joe instead of being apologetic again for the long wait decides to make a joke about how he can add pizza toppings to this pizza just like he originally did with our first order, NOT funny. My father who is also with us, was so upset he ate his pizza and said, "I will never come back again". The pizza is good, the beer is great but the service is AWFUL. I cannot wrapped my head around the fact that 4 months later Joe managed to provide worse service than he did last time. The first time I wasn't going to write a review out of respect for the establishment and my care for the staff. But something NEEDS to be done about this. I will never go back. I don't even want to show my face in there because it was so bad. Get it together Double!

My wife and I had dinner here in April 2015. We loved it! Great atmosphere and lots of fun. The food was very good. Our margarita pizza was outstanding. Highly recommended.

pizza-amazing beer-excellent coffee-great cider-cool crisp and refreshing bacon for dog-very sweet sitting outside in February-priceless

I love Double Mountain brews, one of my favs in Oregon. They are one of the top 5 reasons to come to Hood River. The restaurant is cozy and open, with a couple of rooms with various seating options. I've only been on weekends but we've hardly had to wait. Service has always been fast and friendly. I really love their beers they have only at the taproom such as the Vaporizer on cask with key lime and basil. I tried their root beer once when I was feeling too boozed and it was superb as well. Pizzas here are delicious, with crispy chewy thin crust, my favorites being the margherita when you're feeling light or the truffle shuffle when you're feeling savory. To my surprise they also make great guacamole, paired with my fav local Juanitas chips. My only gripe with DBB is that the bill is always so pricey. I think $21 for the size of their pizzas is a bit high. Pair that with $5 pints, throw in an appetizer, and you have a bill of $40-$50 for 2. It would also be awesome if they offered up a vegetarian sandwich in the sandwich section.

- Locale Destination - It's on 4th St and Columbia St in Hood River, OR. I heard Hood River had a lot of good microbreweries including "Full Sail Brewing" (You can get the beers at McCormick & Schmick's/Full Sail Brewing in Portland). I want to explore th

Great spot, great pizza and delicious beer! They claim to have the best pizza this side of New Haven. Their cluster bleep ipa is as good as any east coast IPAs I've had. Made this Boston boy happy.

We arrived about 6 pm on a Saturday evening. The place was packed-inside, outside and at the bar-but we were seated in 20 minutes. Ordered Mezze Platter and pizza. Appetizer came in 10 minutes. Wonderful hummus-great texture and flavor, not oily. It came with warm, soft pitas and very generous platter of veges that included cucumber, olives, yummy pickled peppers, soft goat cheese and a mound of baby carrots. Carrots were the only negative as they appeared to be the bagged version and had a preservative taste. Coffee was great--fresh and mild. Craft rootbeer was excellent with subtle sassafras base. Pizza: Truffle Shuffle was pleasant surprise with a wonderful meld of flavor. Don't be put off by overload of fresh green onion on top as they are a great counterpoint. Next was The Buffy pizza. Nice but unremarkable. Note that you can specify char level on pizza - a plus. Atmosphere rustic fun but high noise level. Service level is good. Wait staff really hustle but crowd size means waits.
(4)Owen T.
Great pizza's, Very good beers although sometimes lacking in lagers. Would give it 5 star's only for little choice for non beer drinkers (my wife prefers cider or wine) and its often too busy for our comfort level. But go off tourist season when the place is quieter is my recommendation.
(4)Adam C.
Delicious. The beer was phenomenal - with a huge tap list of their own beers. They make two seasonal sour beers out of cherries from the owner's cherry orchard. Get out of here. It was maybe the best beer I've ever tasted. Also, a ton of different and exciting IPAs and a really excellent red pilsner. This beer is legit. The pizza was phenomenal. $22 for a 16" white truffle and mushroom pizza with arugula. Easily fed two hungry people. SO delicious. We were here during rush hour on a Friday night and we were actually seated pretty quickly. There was a 30-40 minute wait to sit inside and no wait to sit outside. For all the rest of the people reviewing this place who complained about having to wait for so long, my guess is that they are just weenies and refused to be outside. Our server was awesome. Everything about the place was top-notch. Definitely coming back.
(5)Graham L.
Tried to make a reservation and they refused... Said it was hop fest and they didn't want to serve drunk people... Love their beer but I guess they don't love us back. Pretty disappointed.. I wanted to check the brewery out. Oh well I guess.. Also staff was very unfriendly about it
(1)Corey G.
The beers here will haunt you. Each creation on the beer list is liquid art. There's a reason why this place is always packed. There's a reason why people flock here after absorbing the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge. Save yourself some mental anguish and simply go for a few samplers and try everything they have here...if you dare. They have many beers to choose from, so plan accordingly. I keep kicking myself for not staying long enough to try a pizza, but I know when I am in heaven, having a table full of Double Mountain beers and a tasty northwest pizza will be something which will happen.
(5)Kimberly S.
Absolutely yummy. I had the tuna melt which was the bomb. Good beer, great service. Loved that they text you when youre table is ready. While tou wait, grab a beer in the bar. Definitely a good spot.
(4)Natalia G.
Stop by here for my lunch hour. I'm in from out of town and the reviews say I have to try the pizzas. Come in, sit at the bar, and immediately order a pepperoni pizza. The bar tender doesn't even acknowledge me until it's been 35 mins. Asks me what I order and doesn't come back. 10mins later, I ask if he can check the status again because I need to leave in 5 mins. He checks and tells me that it's not even in the oven yet! Ok. I get it. You're busy an your pizzas are fresh. But that much of a wait and you should have: 1) warned me while ordering 2) checked on me sooner 3) told me the status the first time you checked Basically, if you are going to take that long, give me the information so I can make a decision whether to stay or go. Instead of making me wait for an hour for a pizza that never came and having me not eat anything during my lunch hour.
(1)Alina M.
Anyone that gives Double Mountain less than 5 stars is an enemy of mine :) I realized I come here all the time and have never given this fabulous place a review. The hardest thing to decide is if they do their pizza or beer better. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu but the truffle shuffle pizza is to die for. As for their beers, never had a bad one.
(5)Shelby J.
YUM! I must say, both the beverages and the pizza at this place are spectacular. It can get a little crowded in the dining area. Especially if you come at a "peak" time (read: dinner and/or holiday weekend), but it was so tasty we quickly forgot. We had the truffle shuffle (goat cheese, white truffle oil, portobello mushroom, green onions). It was super tasty! Also, lets be realistic... obviously this place has delicious beverages. Pop in here for a tasty treat and a cold beverage. You won't be disappointed.
(4)Denea Y.
One of my favorite haunts in Hood River. Best brewery in town, hands down. We arrived on a Saturday mid-afternoon, thinking we'd hit a quiet lull, but they still had a 25min. wait for tables. And that was the beginning of our waits. The kitchen was backlogged, so it took almost 40 minutes for our Jersey pizza to arrive. Having not ordered any appetizers or salads, it was a pretty painful wait. Having already imbibed prior to our arrival, we skipped the beers this trip and subbed their house root beer. Definitely wouldn't order that again, as it just seemed to be lacking in carbonation, sweetness and flavor. At last, when the pie arrived, we were in heaven with the Mama Lil's peppers, spicy ham, and thin wood-fired crust. Lesson learned, if the place is packed, order beers and pre-pizza bites to ward off getting hangry.
(4)Ashley S.
I was pleasantly surprised how well they were with a toddler! I mean I was fully aware I was walking into a brewery, and being in the industry myself, I know its easy for staff to look at us as less than their "ideal" demographic but they were awesome and super accommodating! We ordered pizza which was tasty and the turkey and bacon sandwich with chipotle mayo. DELISH. The kids menu is pretty basic, but understandable. Service was awesome.
(4)Kevin M.
Had a slight problem with their text notification system while we waited for a table. They made up for it though and found us a table for our group of 7, which on a day like today is quite the challenge. They were super busy but that didn't stop them from finding us a table and serving us quickly. Great beer and pizzas too! Big thanks to the hostess that went out of her way to take care of us.
(5)Cassandra L.
Their pizza is soooo good! I went here twice in one week during my family vacation in August, and they were busy both times but the wait for a table never seemed that long. I wish I had remembered to review Double Mountain a couple months ago, because now I can't remember all the beers I tried anymore, but I know they were all great! I would definitely go back if I'm ever in the area again.
(5)Lisa M.
Excellent, full bodied, complex beers. I tried a sampler of 5 beers and my hubby had a pint and every beer was delicious. And the pizza...oh my goodness, this may have been the best thin crust pizza ever! Very thin,, very crispy, light on the cheese, and quality toppings...perfection! Double Mountain is absolutely worth your time.
(4)Sarah R.
Great pizza! The big bummer is that they won't let you call in a pizza to pick up, so i have now driven 20 minutes to get here and have to wait another 25 to get it... Not a huge deal, but inconvenient.
(3)Barb B.
Overall, we rate this a good place but not overwhelming. We went in for a pizza as well as the brew. It was a Saturday night and it was pretty full. But we immediately got two seats at the bar. I didn't catch our bartenders name, but he was very quick, attentive and very friendly. I'd say the service was the best part of our experience there. We got a pepperoni, onion & mushroom pie. The ingredients were fresh. For me the downer was the crust. I'm a Chicago girl and a pizza girl and like a good crust. Their crust is so thin (so that it cooks faster, I guess). But it was pretty burnt/crunchy. We take the bones home for our pooch but he wasn't interested in them either, as burnt as they were. The suds were ok too. Nothing spectacular. I had the Clusterf$ck & my hubby had the Vaporizer. We moved on to another location after here and enjoyed their beer a lot more. The people watching was a bit interesting too. Diverse crowd. All in all, I doubt we'll make this a repeat stop.
(3)Jason G.
Some of my favorite pizza of all time, and I even worked in 3 different pizza places in college, so I feel very qualified to make that statement. It's amazing that it's their beer that makes them famous, but the food is this great too. And whenever you're here, try and get their anniversary special if they have it available. Ferocious Five and Sinister Seven are two of my all-time favorite beers.
(5)Alyssa C.
A must-go stop for any trip to Hood River. Amazing beer? Check. Delicious, wood fired oven pizza? Check. Live music and cool vibe all around? Checkity check. We were so into the pizza we got TWO PIZZAS. That's right ladies and gents -- one pizza per person. Put that in your wood fired burning oven and smoke it. Truffle Shuffle...delish. Better than Apizza Scholls Truffle pizza? Mmmmmm me thinks not, but still, rull good. Also we got a spicy pizza I can't remember the name of (Jersey something?) and it was bomb.com . Their white belgian made me very, very happy.
(5)Sarah P.
I'm from London and live in LA. This is the best pizza I've had in America and I've been here 2 years. Beer is great, view is great. Totally worth the wait!!
(5)Bruce D.
As the duke of DM, I have finally written a review. Been coming since the beginning. I live in pdx but can't stop doing the whole hike in the Gorge and lunch/dinner at DM. Top beers: hop lava, '12 clusterf$uck, killer green, ira Best pizza: the Buffy and add pepperoni Best place to sit: old portion of the pub on the couch. Salads are large and very fresh. I miss most of the original folks that worked here but I'm starting to get to know some of the new people. Highly recommend experiencing double mountain to the fullest. If you party too much. Stay at the best western on the water. It's awesome.
(5)Jessica K.
It has always bothered me that this place only had four stars in my ratings when they make some of the best beer in the area, but it also bothered me to get such rotten service there too. Well I'm glad to say their service is just as fantastic as their beer. I am totally digging the second expansion. Seating for everyone! New waitstaff! I showed up with a big group recently which is something I never would have dreamed of in the past and we were very well taken care of. Even as they continue to grow and dominate, the quality of the beer hasn't suffered. Vaporizer and Hop Lava are still two of my hoptastic favorites. It's always a good time of year when Clusterf*ck is on tap, as it was on my last visit. Can't get enough? Grab growlers or bottles to go! The food menu mostly remains the same with pizza, salad, sandwiches, though my beloved Jamon torta has disappeared from the menu. At least now I'll branch out and try more things as it is all delicious. I was grinning like a total idiot by the time I left and for once it wasn't just the beer. One of my favorite places just got even better. Double Mountain! Come on down! Grab that 5th star!
(5)Ben C.
One of my favorite Breweries on the planet....so far!! Really, they are masters of fermentation- all kinds of deliciousness, though yes, most of their beers are hop-focused...There are generally also a few options if you have someone in your group that doesn't want hops. I came here for the first time in 2010 and really liked the brewery (and HR in general)- since they I've been back many times, and they seem to have expanded into the space next door, and also on the shelves of more stores in Portland. The critical thing is that the quality has not suffered 1 iota with the success! Great pizza- perfect crust. I choose to give them the benefit of a doubt when they describe New Haven as the birthplace of pizza on the menu. They are clearly on top of their pizza game, and they can call it whatever they want! I also recommend the house-made kielbasa sandwich- excellent, simple, and perfect if you are not feeling the pizza urge but still want food. If there's a line for a table (often there isn't, in my experience), this is one of those places where its worth the wait.
(5)Kimberly P.
We came in with high expectations and were not disappointed. Tried the FA LA LA LA LA Flight, the Double Mountain House Brewed Root Beer, the Classic Caesar and a large Pepperoni Pizza. Wanted to crawl under the table and take a snooze so that I could gain back an appetite for a second round! The food menu is simple but well done and their beer...well, I won't be sharing anything you don't already know. Can't wait to get back here to try the Truffle Shuffle Pizza with mozzarella, crumbled goat cheese, and white-truffle-oil-marinated portabella mushrooms and with sliced green onions! The table next to us was waxing poetic after the first bite. This is a kid friendly place with a warm, welcoming vibe. Excellence is found here.

Went for lunch on a Saturday. It was busy, but not terribly busy. Ordered 2 sandwiches and one beer to share. After a good 25 minutes we inquired about our sandwiches and were told they were working on it. During this time, several people who were seated after us received their pizzas. After 40 minutes of waiting, I told the waitress we didn't want the sandwiches. She said they'd be right out, so I said fine. The sandwiches weren't all that, and really could have been made in 10 minutes. During all this time, the waitress didn't offer to fill our waters (we had to ask) and didn't ask if we wanted another beer. They comped us the one beer and one sandwhich. I may go back for drinks but would not order food again.
(1)Vanessa M.
Pizza was amazing! Thin crust, just the right amount of cheese and tomato sauce, high quality meat products. We also tried one of their sandwiches and the bread was crusty just the way I like it. I would definitely get the pepperoni pizza again. Be patient.., the wait times can be long but well worth it.
(4)Nate P.
Excellent amber ale and the pizza was awesome. First time back since remodel and loved it. Great atmosphere and family friendly place to meet people. Enjoyed my time there, wud come back next time in town !

It doesn't matter what time of year it is: there's always a wait, but you can order a beer from the bar and enjoy a little conversation with friends. My most recent beer purchase was the Lulu, a saison style that was crisp, light, and floral. The pizza is simple, delicious, and filling (but not overly so). The crust has a nice char in some spots which gives it a little extra crunch and flavor. The large greek salad is good to share with a friend, and the chips and salsa will tide you over until your pizza arrives. On our most recent visit, our server was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. He didn't write down our order and forgot my tea, but was apologetic for the mistake. If you find yourself in Hood River and don't mind waiting for tasty pizza, saddle up to the bar, order a beer sampler, and have fun!

If I lived in Hood River I'd be a fixture here. I was super excited when this place first opened. GOOD beer in Hood River. The place was tiny though, and, due to being so awesome, always packed. They've since expanded--quite dramatically--and you know what? It's still always packed! That's a good problem to have for a brewery and pub, and that's the only 'rub' with this place. If you come out on a nice day--especially, God forbid, on a weekend--it can be hard to even get a table. The beer is quite good. There have been more recent entries to the Oregon craft brew scene that have caused my attention to drift from Double Mountain's offerings. But then Molten Lava happened. Double IPA madness! Wow! It's awesome! I also have to say that their Kreik offerings are pretty spectacular as well. The food menu is pretty limited. Mezza platter, assorted sandwiches (meatball sub is yummy), and pizza. But the pizza here is really pretty darn good--especially for the PNW. If you can get a seat outside on a summer day, you are truly blessed by the hop gods. Oh...and hey buddy...don't forget to get your growler filled!
(4)Shanon N.
Service friendly but slow. Had to ask if appetizer was on its way out. Staff seem more concerned with patrons ordering pizza which is not what I ordered. Beer sizing confusing with small glasses. Asked for pint of molten lava , got tiny glass. Too tired waiting for food to question it. Tuna melt very good. Jersey sub supposed to have capicole meat, didn't see it and I know what it looks like. Waiter got tiny tip. Cool 60's jams on. Probably better service at bar.
(3)Marissa G.
GREAT pizza - especially the Truffle Shuffle. I'm not a huge beer person but even I usually find a beer I like when we go. On a side note, their appetizer olives are soft and flavorful and delicious.
(5)Neona R.
This pizza is legit and they are probably my favorite brewery ever. The salad I had was also delicious. You just can't go wrong here. Only drawback is there is often a wait, but they will text you when your table is ready, so you can wander around Hood River while you wait. Not a bad deal.
(5)Mark G.
Double Mountain was a pleasant surprise. The beers we had were excellent, they actually deserve a five star rating. The space is large and seems a little cold, but after a couple of those 5 star beers you won't notice that anymore. We had a great salad and an ok pizza which were both reasonably priced. Overall we really enjoyed our late lunch and will stop back in when in the area.
(4)Melissa S.
Amazing beer. Best Red ever! My husband and I love to come here and eat pizza and drink beer. During the summer we love to sit outside and look at the river!
(5)Shannon M.
The pilsner was fantastic. Our group got the asparagus pie and the truffle shuffle, we loved every bite. It's a place where everyone seems to know everyone else too. Our group is talking about going again!
(5)Athena T.
I must add my five stars to all the others - this is some of the best beer I've ever had the pleasure of drinking! I've been here several times and have never been let down by anything. The service, the ambiance, the food, and especially the beer has always been top notch. I'm especially fond of their Devil's Kriek & Rainier Kriek, Belgian-style sour ales made with Bing and Rainier cherries. Both are unique and exceptionally complex and robust, not to mention super sour! if you love sour beer you must visit just to try these two outstanding brews. We were also thrilled by the Ferocious Five, a burbon barrel brown ale. It was absolutely stupendous; they say it was aged in Kentucky burbon barels for a year, and it sure tasted like it. Outstanding! Also not to be missed is the Vaporizer, a delicious dry hopped pale ale; the highly drinkable and immensely enjoyable IRA (India Red Ale), and the assertive but not too agressive Hop Lava. Don't miss it if you love floral, citrusy, resinous northwest hops. Yum! And I must mention that they do serve great food here, too, most notably their hand crafted, thin crust, brick oven pizzas. We were able to tear ourselves away from the beer just long enough to devour an incredible wedge of one of these beauties; it was great to eat fresh, but just as yummy when we finished the remainder much later that evening. The dough is crafted in house, covered with fresh & unique toppings, then crisped to perfection in their brick-lined oven. Don't miss ordering a pie here at least once! Our favorite pizza is the Truffle Shuffle ($20 for 16") White sauce, crumbled goat cheese, and portabella mushrooms marinated in white truffle oil. Yowza! and did you know they serve the same pizzas, only $10 for 10", at lunchtime? You canNOT find a better pizza for that price anywhere on the planet.
(5)Annabelle J.
It's official we love this place!! The best hoppy beer here is cluster f#*_k!! And the pizzas are to die for. We have been here a few times and everytime the service , food, and experience has been awesome! Our waiter mark was so fun, he was very attentive and we will absolutely come back!! Thanks mark or yet again a lovely experience .Check this place out.

1.5 STARS 3.0 Stars for beer quality 1.0 Stars for the rest. Advertised: 'Imperial' 20 oz. pint. What you get: 16 oz. in a 20 oz. glass Advertised: Mushroom lovers pizza - Fresh Chantrell mushrooms w. fresh mozzerella. What you get: Overpriced pizza w/ very few mushrooms on a black charred crust w/ skimpy amounts of cheese. Our service was mediocre at best. Decent beer if you don't mind a 16oz. pint at a 20oz price. I'd plan to go elsewhere for food - You won't get what you pay for here.

I'm a local, so I look forward to the tourists leaving about this time of year. It means I may just be able to grab a spot to sit and a brew. Beer is fantastic NW brew. Pizza is killer (all styles.) It's a great place to get the vibe of this sweet little town....just don't bring the touristy attitude. Everyone here is laid-back, chill'in, and super cool. Don't harsh my groove, CA dude. During the winter months you'll hang out with all the skiers in town. Excellent place to people watch. Double MT is always the only place in town that *always* has people and stuff going on. (Which is why we avoid it throughout the summer.) Be ready for a line and a wait for your pie, but the wait staff is some of the most friendly (and patient) in town. Autumn at Double MT, you are MINE!
(5)Martie M.
I had the Greek salad and a Vaporizer IPA, which was not over the top hoppy, but light and crisp. A couple of crackers would have been nice to balance the acidity of the salad dressing, but it was fresh and tasty. Service was fast and since we had left a place a few blocks away due to poor service, we appreciated it. Overall ok, might be back on our way through next time.
(4)Joe D.
Second time I tried to get in here. Beer was very good. Very good IPA. I heard the pizza was superb. I was let down a little. I have had better in several places. Not bad by no means. Better than average all around so I gave it 4 stars.
(4)Brent W.
Beer was fantastic and food was really good. Had salads and pizza. Both Caesar and spinach were delicious. Pizza as good as advertised.
(5)Mary S.
I love this place. Our pizza was great. The beer is unparalleled and the staff is awesome. Thanks for making our visit awesome.
(5)Matty P.
Probably the best New York style pizza I've had on the west coast. They bill themselves as a brewery but make no mistake their pizza will have you talking afterward. Great Indian red ale, fantastic flavor. This is an absolute gem of a find and permanently affixed to our Hood River stops. Just wow.
(5)Jason R.
Absolutely love the pizza here, especially the Jersey Pie and Truffle Shuffle, and the beer selection is amazing. They brew everything well from a Kolsch to IPAs and sours.
(4)Dan T.
Excellent Craft Beers! Heirloom Pie is fantastic spoken by a devout meat eater. Not sure why people say service is slow except maybe their visiting during prime time. I personally like it when its hopping as you get more beer drinking time :) I've met some great people sitting at the bar Hood River is one of my favorites!
(4)Jen L.
Well, we are fans because we were there twice in 24 hours. Devil's Kriek - tart cherry beer. Killer Red, Kolsch. Give it a try. You'll have to see the other reviews for beers. Now Pizza: yes, now that's more my area. it's pretty yummy. The crust is awesome, perfectly fluffy yet thin. - Truffle Shuffle: yum, my fav. I could stand a bit more truffling - Buffy - I like the touch of goat cheese - Margherita - my friends loved this the best. - get it with a spinach or greek salad to share. It's quite loud in there. They text you when your table is ready.
(4)Alicia N.
I'm sad to say that after years of coming here, we are done and the hostess we dealt with sealed the deal for us not coming back. We showed up at 1pm with 5 of us and were told it would be a 45 minute wait. Once we waited for 30 minutes we were invested and decided to just hold out for our table. We had to ask multiple times where we were on the list and actually watched people that arrived after us be seated. We were very patient, but could tell the hostess was annoyed and it almost felt like we were being skipped on purpose. Finally after we were told we were next to be seated and this not happening, again watching others being seated, they finally seated us after we explained that we'd been waiting for over an hour. The beer and mediocore food is just not worth the wait or being treated like this. It's unfortunate that we've watched this establishment grow from a small business that treated their customers well, to one that no longer seems to care
(1)Lisa E.
We stopped here on the way home from a day in the snow. The place was totally packed with other snow-bunnies. They said it was a 35 min wait but it only took about 15 minutes to get our table, so that was good. I think if they are going to have big crowds, they need to find a space for people to wait because there were just throngs of people standing around. They had enough space with some creative redecorating for the tables. The beer was great, the service was pretty good considering it was so crowded. Ordered the Jersey pizza and enjoyed it a lot. It was almost as good as Apizza Scholl's in Portland. The pizza also came out really fast! I liked this place and would go back again.
(4)J.c. B.
Although I don't like to rate food this place has the trifecta. Good beer, good pizza, and good service. I like their beers. All of them where really good especially the vaporizer. I really liked the pizza as well. But where this place won me over was the service. Shout out to Kelly Y for garnering a 5 star for this place. Literally the best service I've had in well over two years. Excluding the food this place earned a 4 on beers and a 5 on service, so average of 4.5.
(5)Emma V.
This place is fabulous! The beer list has something for everybody. They also serve local wines. Their menu is great- pizza, sandwiches, appetizers. We've been here many times and have never been disappointed. The staff is also super friendly.
(4)Bernadette L.
The sausage, onion, and mushroom pizza was awesome! Great beer selections and cool atmosphere.
(4)JW R.
If you're in Hood River you've probably made some questionable choices in life. But enough about me *rimshot*. DM is a busy spot, they mostly serve their own beers but today at least they had some guest taps. We came here for the wood fired pizza and again I fail to see the allure of burned up crusts. It was otherwise okay, a bit sauced up but tasty. The service was a little wacky, we got popped by a hostess right away and they took a cell number to text us when our table was ready. We could get beers at the bar on a tab we hadn't really started yet. All that was good. But the waiter seemed really rushed, and the three separate runners (one for each pizza we ordered) ALL had trouble finding our table. It seemed systemic rather than occasional. Still, you're in Hood River, where else are you gonna go?
(3)Bob M.
Just left. Excellent food, good beer, friendly helpful staff. I could not ask for more. Well done!!!
(4)Benedicte C.
We webt there for a lunch and beer tasting It was perfect Beer was good Food was perfect (white pizza eith cheese mushrooms and truffles) very tasty and the crust was good Kids foods was just goos for them Its a good place with nice person
(5)Matt M.
This place has the best pizza in Oregon. I have lived most of my life on the East coast and have been in search of some decent pizza for a while. Double Mountain gets it done, great crust, excellent sauce and imaginative and fresh toppings and cheese. The beer is very good and I have very much enjoyed the variety of styles they do well, including the Kolsch, Pilsner and Dubbel. The only negative thing I could say is that it is quite noisy in there and they should probably turn the music down a little since it is almost always a packed house.
(5)Bryn C.
Awesome beer, pizza, food and setting. Would love to see them add some gluten free cider options. Recommend and worth a visit.
(4)Dan S.
Call me pizza-nieve, but I definitely prefer pizzas with thick crust. Their only option was the thin, crispy crust type. The friends I dined with might disagree. However, all three of us agreed that this place should be open much later on the weekends! They stop serving food at 10:30 and everything else at 11. I know Hood River is a fairly small, tourist destination in the gorge, but c'mon! We were there just under the wire to order our pizza. Beer was pretty good. I'll probably be back to have more of their food!
(4)Matt R.
Great location, great staff, and great beer. Happy to have stopped in on my way through Hood River. Lots of "hoppy" beers (my favorite) and a really happy group I people working here. The lady behind the bar was wonderful and helpful. She knew her beers and made for a great afternoon.
(5)Michael N.
This was a cool little pub equipped with great food. I'm going to miss this place.
(5)Dan H.
Another day, another pizza. A nice hike in the gorge (Washington side for those of you playing at home) called for a nice beer in, well somewhere that will serve you a beer. We weren't too far from Hood River so Hood River is where we stopped. I had never been to Double Mountain before, but I've liked their beers and after going directly to the source, I like their beers even more. I ordered the Spicy Brown Ale because i like my beers spicy and I like them brown. That was a no brainer. You could smell the spices coming off of this beer. I smelled cinnamon and maybe some nutmeg. I could be wrong. Either way it is a good beer. My friend and I decided to split a pizza because apparently pizza is the only thing I am allowed to eat these days. Strenuous hike. Burned off a bunch of calories. Why not just put those bad boys back on whilst eating a pizza? We ordered the Jersey pie because I'm from Jersey. Ok, we didn't order it because I'm from Jersey. We ordered it because it sounded damn good. Hot capicola, provolone & Mama Lil's marinated peppers ($18). It did not remind me of eating pizza back in Jersey. It reminded me of eating pizza in Hood River which is what we were doing if you had been paying attention. Tomorrow is another day. I won't be eating pizza tomorrow. Next time I come back here, and I will be back, I will try some more of their tasty beers and their tasty pies. Calories be damned.
(4)Elizabeth M.
I've been to Double Mountain on a semi-regular basis since it opened. I love taking visitors and out-of-town friends here. There's nothing better (in the Gorge) than Double Mountain's pizzas. Pairing that with their beer is perfection. Sample as much as possible and take your time. The ambience is much better now that they've expanded their space and added a second bar. The only reason I've rated them 4 stars vs. 5 is because the last couple of times I've been there, the hostess has been snotty and rude for no reason whatsoever. Other than that, great service and knowledgeable staff.
(4)W B.
This review only for the bar service. After many failed attempts to have a meal here due to poor crowd line management we lowered our standards and just went in today to have one of their great beers from the tap. Matt worked the thirsty line quickly and took care of everyones questions. My opinion of the beer has always been favorable. Thanks Matt for changing our view and opinion of the pub. Cheers!
(4)Laura L.
The beer and food were excellent but the service stunk. From the hostess to 2 other servers we experienced disinterest and rudeness. Our server went off shift and didn't bother to give us our check or even mention she was off. Rather, she sat the table next to us and drank a beer. we had to go in to the bar and ask for our check in order to pay. The bartender was very friendly.
(3)Christa K.
The brew tour with Phil was awesome!!! I grew up as a daughter of a Miller Brewery employee and have been on countless tours. Craft beer tours RULE!
(5)Marc P.
Fantastic craft brews, a great staff, and delicious thin crust pizza...and all at a reasonable price. My two favorite beers were the Vaporizer and the IRA. I am a big brewery fan, going as far to create a Google Map of all the breweries I have ever visited ( goo.gl/maps/DZdiA ). This brewery is definitely one of the tops; every beer they brew made my tongue do a happy dance. And the thin crust NY style pizza was out of this world. I was truly amazed, and happy, that a place that makes truly great craft beers also pulled off some of the best pizza that I have ever tasted. Match this with an awesome staff, and you get 5 stars. If you find yourself in Hood River, and you only have time for 1 brewery, make it this one. Of course, if you have time for two, make sure to also visit Full Sail, which is only 1 block away.
(5)Michael A.
Stopped here on our way off of Adams. Great beer, great pizza, and great service. What else do you need? Can't wait to go back.
(5)Cedar Creek R.
I don't know to well Hood River restaurants and micro brewers, but this is certainly a good one and the pizza is great and the beer looks good
(4)Amy B.
I love the newly added space. This place was always busting at the seams, and I think now they may have fixed that problem. The pizza here is perfect. The toppings are light and the crust is crispy, it's the perfect balance. Not only that but as we sat outside waiting for our food to come we kept seeing cars stop by dropping off food. The egg lady came by with her free range organic eggs and the veggies were also being brought in by a local farm. I love that they are supporting the locals. The biggest highlight is the beer. I like my beer hoppy, but Double Mountain has the best Kolsch. Even though I always choose their red, I always sip on my husbands Kolsch. On our most resent visit we got to see the bottling set up and the guy even brought out the bottles for us to check out. Very excited that I won't have to make the drive all the time for the beer, but will still come for pizza.
(5)Jason S.
Good beers if that's your deal. Music was ok. Didn't eat here but maybe next time. Lot's of beards and sandals - cool vibe, mellow and chill.
(3)Maddie R.
Have never had a negative experience here! Pizzas are delicious and creative, especially the monthly specials (whole pies $16-22). Many pours on tap, and different sizes available. Fridge stocked and growlers to go. Would love to see a happy hour here :)
(5)Laura P.
We've been here 5 times in the last 6 months. Every time the beer has been FANTASTIC. Big selection of the usual and some not so usual. Always satisfying and great. We first went during the remodel. It was a bit of a mess and totally crowded. We had been mountain biking in the area and were in search of a great beer. We found it. We didn't stay to eat, the wait was long. Our 2nd visit was during the Oregon Trail Rally and we'd heard about a beer from a local in Dufur and had to try it. It was called Muddy Water's a rich stout that had us drooling, but wouldn't you know it, they had run out of this seasonal a week or so before our arrival. We were sad, but not disappointed given the other available beers. The next time we were there the remodel was complete. WOW it increased the size of the tasting room/restaurant nearly 3X. It was still packed. Pretty cool. We had the Jamon Torta. Ham and cheese on a torta roll with spicy chipotle mayo. It was really yummy. Served with a side of chips and the FORMIDABLE, what else could you want? On July 4th, we returned with friends after a long ride up Dog River, again, busy but fun. Great beer with even better friends is perfect. We had the same Jamon Torte, this time asking for tortilla chips and the Chèvre Crustini, and again the FORMITABLE. A rich, dark Imperial Stout. WOW! The waitstaff was always friendly, bartenders enjoyed talking about the beers. A great place. More recently, on Sunday, we stopped after a great ride and found the waitress a little disinterested. She didn't know what the guest taps were, nor did she seem interested in getting us the info. She didn't have much information about anything. We noticed that the menu had changed some, but one of the bread choices was the Torta Bread. We asked for that and she said, "Oh we don't have that. That is long gone". Huh? We did order the Ham/Cheese/Bacon and the Spinach Salad, both very good. The beers that we could get were okay. Nothing special, but still good. We'll return hoping for a different waitress and an improved beer selection.
(4)Deanna N.
Your pizza woodfired at 700 degrees in a brick oven is the Apizza Scholls of Hood River. Beer a must. Love the summer Kolsch, so refreshing. Dog friendly seating outside. A hood river must and one of the best breweries with symbiotic food!
(5)Geneva H.
Good food! They accommodated our large group quickly. We called a few minutes before they opened, and by the time their doors were open, we had a table waiting for us. They got our entire group sat, beer'd up, fed, and all cashed out in under an hour. Not too bad for a group of 13. I would go there again and it looked like the locals love it too!
(4)Sunny S.
Food was just so so. Totilla chips were yummy. Very limited menu with some salads and sandwiches. Waitress was nice but service was slow. Busy spot. Beer was just ok.
(3)Sukanya B.
Outrageously rude behaviour from the bartender/ server. Unfortunately my friends had already ordered and we couldn't leave but I'd much rather have left than give them my business. I really don't need some bartender schooling me and treating me less politely than other customers.
(1)Jen K.
Brewpubs are about as good as it gets when dining with my boys and this one gets high marks all around. Mr. K got his beer itch scratched, my boys enjoyed the pizza and I liked the whole package. Double Mountain has been on my list for awhile, but it is usually crowded. So on our earlier trips we didn't wait for a table and went to a different brewpub or restaurant in town which wasn't nearly as fun. So be prepared to squeeze in and count yourself lucky if you can grab a table in the Taproom or on the front patio when the weather is nice. The other half of the space appears to be more of an open-air lounge for large groups. The pizza is thin-crust and charred. You can ask for less charring if that's not your thing and I did this for the boys' pizza. Mr. K and I shared the sausage, mushroom and onion pizza and were pleasantly surprised by the tangy sauce. The spinach salad was also excellent. Everything about Double Mountain is simple, casual and friendly. You place your order and pay at the bar. If you want a soda or juice, grab it from the cooler on the side wall. While plenty of people stayed to eat and drink, they were also doing a brisk business with folks grabbing growlers (64 oz.) to go. They have four year round beers and a handful of seasonal offerings. If you can handle the crowds, it is a great time.
(4)Joe S.
Wow, they just annexed the space next door and doubled (tripled?) in size! Pizza isn't as amazing as it once was though is still the best in town. Used to be the best in the entire Portland Metro area.
(4)Chris H.
This spot was recommended, but I was disappointed. Not because of the service, or friendly bar tender, but because of the brew. After sampling a few of the taps, I just went with the Irish Stout because my taste buds weren't agreeing with the anything. Basically a Genius, nothing special. Now, my lady friend went with the Fa La La La.... She said its drinkable, but empty. Meaning, has no body to it. I'd have to agree. Anyways, I would recommend the one horse spot based on beer alone.
(2)Rebeka O.
Double Mountain might be the greatest place in the whole world. Their beer and pizza are both amazing, pair them together and the combination is magical. I could eat it every day. I send anyone visiting Hood River to Double Mountain. It's a great spot to grab lunch or dinner, an afternoon beer, or listen to live music while you're out on a Friday or Saturday night. Just go, enjoy, and you can thank me later.
(5)Holly S.
Their customer service has gone down since the remodel. If you show up with kids expect the furthest corner away from anything to be your table... not my favorite thing but whatever I get it. What I'm confused about is ever since they opened their big back room why everything takes so much longer. Sure I still go whenever I pass through hood river but each time while waiting for a table and for a beer and for pizza I wonder, is this really worth it? One final note, why oh why do you have those big roll up doors in the back space if you don't use them. The AC feels stale and in the warmer months it is just a shame to waste a fresh breeze and sunshine.
(4)Stewart B.
This is my favorite Brewery and Taproom in Hood River. And the beer alone is worth the visit. However, if you like great pizza than this is also the place you want to be. BEER: The IRA is outstanding. Its basically an IPA with an amber color. 6.5% ABV. For dessert I got a glass of Ferocious Five - Bourbon-Barrel-Aged Brown Ale. WOW!!! Great taste of whiskey and beer. 12% ABV. Only need one of those.... PIZZA: I love Brick-Oven Pizza, and Double Mountain did not disappoint. We got a half Margherita half Sausage, Onion & Mushroom Pizza and it was excellent. Though if I was to do it again I would get just Margherita. You could taste how fresh this pizza was. We can't wait for our next visit to Hood River and Double Mountain.
(4)Brian C.
We stopped here on a trip back home from Eastern Oregon. We usually make our traditional stop at Full Sail but decided to mix it up. Next time I think we'll be going back to Full Sail. Double Mountain was very busy and so the 30 min wait to be seated was no problem. The pizza is very good being cooked in a very hot wood fired oven to give it that tasty crust. The reason for the 3 star review is two reasons, the first is the service, the second is actually the beer. We felt very ignored and it took a very long time to get our food. The beer seemed flat and left more to be desired. On the bright side, the greek salad was very good as an appetizer, I just wished our pizza hadn't taken so long to get after we got our salad :(
(3)Tiffany K.
Loved the beer but the food left much to be desired. We were four adults and four children all under five. They quickly sat us and took our beer orders but took a little time to get our food order. It would have been great if they had pizza on the kids menu but they did not. The pizza was great, the Braut was okay and the Caesar Salad was terrible! The dressing was runny and the chicken tasted old. Get the pizza, try all their fabulous beers but make sure to skip the salad!
(3)Katherine C.
Not a beer drinker but my friend is..He enjoyed their nice size sampler and found their Indian Red Ale to be quite tasty...we missed the seasonal winterfest beer..maybe next time...ordered the buffalo chicken pizza...awesome!! Nice and spicy and very large for a very cheap price....
(4)Cletus N.
I am a pizza snob, love good Italian pizza. Lived in Milan for a year and raised in the Boston area, so I have grown accustomed to good Italian style pizza. Double Mountain Brewery Pizza is the real deal. The sauce is excellent and they cook the pizza fast and hot so the crust is crispy and the sauce cannot seep into the pizza. The beer was excellent and a pleasant change from days of Willamette Pinot Noir. Lastly, but important, the service was great and the folks there are supper friendly. A must visit if you are traveling through Hood River. If it is a nice night, get a sidewalk table and you will enjoy the vibe.
(4)Brian L.
Did you quit your high paying brokerage job and move to the Gorge? Are you a trust fund baby? Are most of your clothes Patagonia and/or hemp? If you answered "yes" to any of the above you've found your spot! VERY good pizza, good beer ("Let's see if we can out-hop EVERYONE else!") and mediocre service make it a place worth coming to, even if I feel out of place surrounded by people who have the time to take a two hour mountain bike ride on a Wednesday morning. So throw your shelter dog in the Subaru and get your natual fiber laden butt on down here!
(4)Nina A.
Great pub. My bf ordered the Blt- very good. I ordered the margherita pizza- sooo good. Fast and good service
(4)Elizabeth K.
So great! Loved the pizza and beer and clever brew names. Hope to be back soon.
(4)Karen G.
Double Mountain is by far the BEST restaurant in Hood River. It is not only fantastic food and award winning beer but the owner and his staff are fantastic! Also there is always an amazing line up of music to dance the night away. I would highly recommend going to Double Mountain if you are EVER in Hood River.
(5)Chris K.
A "must do" when in Hood River this place remains fantastic year after year. These folks make tremendously good beer and excellent pizza. The service here is always attentive and friendly. I have trouble going to Hood River and not making a stop at Double Mountain. Go doing fresh hop season for the Killer Red and Killer Green... you will not be disapointed.
(5)John O.
Went here on a midweek night will visiting Hood River. Pretty much all locals, great beer (reasonably priced pints), and live local music. The live group (one guy on guitar the other on bass) were really great. Dancing permitted and encouraged! Super clean, very modern yet very Oregen-esque vibe. If you're a man and you don't have a Rip Van Winkle beard, you will definitely stand out as the non-local. I would definitely recommend hitting up Double Mountain Brewery if you are in the Hood River area and you are craving a very hoppy beer.
(5)Walker Y.
Besides visiting my homie up here in hood river I was looking forward to trying hop lava again. Just as good as I remembered. Jonny gave great service, all the staff was quite nice actually. My favorite draft in norcal is racer 5, hop lava is probably my favorite Oregon one so far. Open a double mountain in the bay area or napa valley!
(5)Beerboy M.
One of Oregon's best breweries, and top two in Hood River along with Pfriem. Double Mountain makes a great catalog of beers, IPAs, IRAs, Vaporizer (which I consider closer to an IPA), Kolsch, and some very interesting Belgian style beers. If you get the chance, try their Kriek beers which are great sour beers with cherries. Their very wide variety of beers should be able to please everyone. Great service, particularly at the bar, but a small brewpub that gets filled up on weekends and when Hood River is busy. Their food is good, enough to soak up the beer and satisfy your stomach, but you aren't really coming here for the food, are you?

What's that? You said you like beer and you HAVEN'T been to Double Mountain? Shame on you. This is great beer. I've liked everything I've tried, which only makes me want to try every beer they make. The IRA (India Red Ale) is still one of the best reds I've had, if not the best. And you couldn't ask for a better beer-guzzling atmosphere. A friendly neighborhood place, filled with happy people drinking together, in a great town. The beer makes this place great, but the pizza makes it AWESOME. I could eat that heat-blasted chewy crust all day long. The Truffle Shuffle will make you squeal with delight. Oh it's so good, I'm getting hungry thinking about it. The perfect ending to any day in Hood River.

This place has been expanded into the vacancy to the north and almost doubled in size, which is a big plus! The wait used to be very long during peak periods but now it is easy to get right in and seated. Service is very friendly, beer rocks my world and the food is very good, reasonably priced and the portions are generous. Unfortunately, the last time I was there, three of us ordered salads, beers and two pizzas. The beer and salads arrived in a timely manner and one pizza followed up in about 30 minutes. We figured that the other one was coming out soon. The server stopped by about 5 minutes after the first pizza had been delivered and asked if we wanted anything else. "just our other pizza" was my answer. I could tell by the look of dread on his face that he had forgotten to order it (didn't write down the order when he took it). He said he would check on it and came back and admitted he hadn't put the order in but it would only be a few minutes. After about 15 minutes, I flagged him down and asked how long he expected it to be. He checked and let us know it would be going into the over in a few minutes, which essentially meant it would not be out for another 15 minutes. My boyfriend was already finished with his pizza so we decided to cancel the order, much to the dismay of the server. Seems they should have made this pizza on the fly rather than put it in line with the other pizzas so it would have been out quickly. I have been to this place many times and will go back again and again but it might help to confirm your order with the server if he/she is committing it to memory.

Before dinner for NYE, we decided to explore the brew pub culture of Mt Hood. First stop, the Double Mountain Brewery. Not bad at all. A rather small room in front of the bar with an even bigger room with bands to the side, this is your traditional brew pub. Extra points for the cool artwork gallery showing on the walls and having the artist in house. Beers were cold and a knowledgeable staff is on hand to explain what you are about to drink. Enjoy!

I'm actually kind of shocked by the great reviews of this place. I could get on board with the overall look and feel of the place, which is kind of cool. That, plus the great reviews on here from other Yelpers made my boyfriend and I decide to go out of our way to stop here after a day of hiking. When I walked in, I was excited to try it. It seemed like a great little find. However, as a few other people have noted on here, the service was about as bad as it gets. Maybe it was the fact that we were in our hiking clothes, but we both got the feeling that other (trendier looking) people were getting much better service than us. We ended up waiting about 45 minutes for our food (two sandwiches that were both well below par) and saw our waitress maybe twice. She was cold the entire time and always seemed to be looking around while we were talking to her. Rude. The beer selection was decent, but I'm sure we could have found something comparable in one of the 50 other adorable locations in the town of Hood River. Bottom line is unless you are already established as a regular here, I wouldn't waste your time. There's nothing that ruins a cool vibe quite like horrible customer service, and this place proves it.

Great, great beer. Super nice after a day of driving and hiking but I'm gonna pass on the food.

A little slice of beer heaven, but for the customers. Double Mountain is my wife's favorite brewery, and we came down to Hood River pretty much just to visit it. We had a fun meal there. We tried a few brews not released outside the brewery, and sat quietly at the bar enjoying the widely praised pizza (it's worthy of the praise). Atmosphere here is pretty laid back. I imagine that the summertime must make it awesome, as the walls roll up. Service is all right. There is a bit of a Portlandia-esque "too cool for school" mentality that translates to treating "outsiders" a little poorly. The customer base exhibits that attitude too. While there, a group of bicyclists came in and literally shoved my wife aside to get to the bar. That would be less of a problem if it weren't for the fact that my wife travels with a service animal, and it left the bar shaking from being pushed aside by this crowd.
(3)Tom G.
Fine beers. The IRA (India red ale) was especially good!! The pizza was ok but it could have used a LOT more quantity of ingredients. When I order a pizza with mushrooms I'd expect at least a little chunk of mushroom with each bite...and not a barren shoe sole...

Double Mountain makes some of my favorite beers--let's talk about the nearly perfect IRA. I wouldn't turn one down anywhere, anytime, ever. Thus, when we took a beautiful Labor Day Weekend drive up to Hood River, I just had to make a stop at the Double Mountain Brewery. Man, oh, man! The place was crazy slammed for a Sunday afternoon. Interesting way they let you know your table is ready--with a text message. Allowed us to take a nice little stroll through town while we waited. Very nice little city, Hood River is. My wife was delighted when we stumbled across a ukelele club performing a concert in an art gallery. One time when we found ourselves a bit disappointed that our table was ready on time. Our table was outside on the sidewalk, which was perfectly fine on such a sunny day. Our waitress was prompt and attentive. I ordered a pint of Vaporizer and my wife got a Wit that they had just put on the line. We ordered the Jersey Pie pizza and enjoyed the atmosphere. (Does everybody in Hood River have a Labrador? Just wondering.) The pizza was delicious. Nice thin crust that was perfect for folding--just the way I like it. I can't think of single negative about our visit to Double Mountain, except that I had to limit my beer consumption in order to drive back home to Portland. Great place.
(5)Anna P.
Awesome food. Super kid friendly. Beer was great. Some of the beat pizza I have ever had. A must for pizza and beer snobs. Loved it.
(5)J L.
Always crowded but love the beer. IRA and vaporizor.
(4)Stan R.
Double Mountain is a beer aficionado's dream. I always look forward to visits to Hood River just to have an excuse to pop in. The pizza is excellent and the beer is better. This trip we just happened to sit when Clusterfuck was released and they poured it for free for a short time! How awesome is that!? If you are in HR, stop in here for a few beers and a slice of za!
(5)Yeghia T.
DAMN! That was a good pizza - Sausage, Onion & Mushroom. A truly good Pizza starts in the crust, Double Mountain delivers in spades. What more can a growing boy ask for. Good Pizza and Good Beer. Open one up in LA please.
(5)Heather R.
Best pizza ever! Truffle shuffle pizza is that feeling you have when you are at the height of climax . Wow! Paired with any one of the yummy beers... Who needs a partner?!!! ( ok, I need one to pay the bill!)
(5)Corinne P.
DMB was amazing. I had their pizza and it was delicious.... Plus the beer was very good too. I had the sample platter of beer. I wasn't a fan of one of the beers, but everything else was great..
(5)Christopher F.
Double Mountain has come a long way in the couple years I've been going. It still has the small pub feel, but it has become quite a bit larger. I'd say they have a great range of brews on tap as well as bottled. The pizza, is fantastic. Probably the best in the Gorge I'd say. Even the chips and salsa is great with locally produced Juanita's chips and some really fresh tasting zesty salsa. It's become a big hit this season so whenever you'd expect tourism or population to be on the up flow in Hood River, you can expect Dbl Mtn to be busy. And busy as in potentially packed, and difficult to seat full parties.
(3)Marie H.
Very very good. Tried the Greek Salad and the Turkey, Cheddar, and Bacon (tcb) sandwich. The Greek Salad was good, it had a lot of mushrooms. The lettuce was perfect. It was the first restaurant I've seen that obviously picks through their lettuce before serving it. The Turkey, Cheddar, and Bacon sandwich with chipotle mayo was "the best cold sandwich ever"- says my sister. All in all, a must if you're in Hood River.
(4)Jessica W.
Been here several times. Beer and food are good. However, I was unimpressed with the service on our most recent visit. I am a fan of local Hood River Ryan's apple juice (and just an apple cider fan in general). When I ordered the Ryan's apple juice off the menu, I was brought a container of bland apple juice which was not at all local. When questioning this, the waiter just shrugged and said the menu was wrong. I enjoy this place and will most likely be back, but not my top Hood River spot.
(3)john A.
Pizza was solid! I love the beers here. They were packed and the wait was about 40min. You can grab a beer at the bar inside while you wait, but the space at the bar is very limited. The service for the beers wasn't to bad, but the food took quite awhile. I liked how you got to choose th our own beer sampler, so you could pick beers that cater towards your own taste. I would definitely come back here!
(4)Kristin O.
Great pizzas and salads! The crust has that perfect balance of crunchiness and tenderness and was topped with a scrumptious array of toppings--sausage, Mama Lil's peppers, onions, and more. The meal was complimented with some delicious brews. The atmosphere definitely felt like a pub with a boisterous drinking scene and noisy customers. A good place to get a casual meal in Hood River!
(4)Matthew N.
I don't get what everyone else sees? Took my family to Hood River for the day and decided based on great reviews to visit the Double. A very cool local place with a much more casual feel than Full Sail. The beer was by far the highlight, the pizza... It was okay. Now I might be biased on pizza as my other reviews and tips show... I love pizza. The crust and sauce were both a little lacking for my taste (the doggie bag test... Take some home and eat later) upon home eating the pizza was soaking and not very good on reheat...failed the doggie bag test. I would still recommend for beer and a local establishment, just not a fan of the pizza.
(3)Gina S.
The vulgar language from staff sitting in outdoor seating area with customers nearby was a big turn off. They were so loud I couldn't hear the ppl at my table. This is a service industry with tight competition. There were children nearby for crying out loud.
(1)Julia C.
The pizza was great, and the caesar salad was crips and well dressed. I wasn't overly blown away by the beer, but they had a nice selection of Oregon wines for those that aren't into beer. They use an interesting "text" message to let you know your table is ready. We had to wait a bit (~20 minutes), but had a nice visit with some locals at the bar area, and then had a table by the windows to watch the rain. I recommend the experience, and expect we will stop in on our next trip through Hood River.
(4)Pascal F.
Don't go here...that way I can get my table faster the next time I show up. This is seriously one of my favorite places in Oregon. After some fun on the mountain, stop in and grab a Vaporizer and devour the Margherita pizza. Amazing beer + Unbelievably good pizza + Hood River = WIN!
(5)Marc S.
I wish I had the same experience as these other yelpers... However, my girlfriend and I waited an hour for our pizza, and was treated rudely by the waitress. The beer was good, but our service was abhorrent. Here comes the weird part: 20 minutes after the waitress told us our pizza was in the oven my girlfriend couldn't take the wait any longer, and popped her head in the kitchen. When she came back she said they JUST started rolling the dough for our pizza. At that point we had been waiting an hour for a CHEESE pizza. Our order couldn't have been easier to fill if we had ordered raw pizza dough... Dine here at your own risk. By the way, half the place was filled with people who had already been there a while, and had already received their food. The other half was filled with empty tables. Witch leads me to believe the bad service was do to the fact that the waitress was possessed by evil spirits, and the cook was stuck in some mysterious time warp.

The Kölsch is Quickly becoming my go-to summer brew. One of the best i've had from a US Brewer. Here's a fun Fact: The name Kölsch is, like champagne, Appellation Controlée, protected by law so that only beers brewed in and around Cologne, Germany can bear the name. But I won't tell. The IRA is in my Top Five Favorite Pacific Northwest Year Around Beers (Non-Seasonal) I Always Order IRA if It's available. My only issue with their beer is the Vaporizer Pale which in my opinion varies in taste and quality. (From Really Good to Not so Good) Or maybe my tastebuds vary in taste and quality. Some amazing seasonal or limited batch brews Ive had. Killer Green Fresh Hop Killer Red Fresh Hop Peche Mode Peach Sour Ale The Pizza It's Killer. Sometimes the sauce has a hint of spice that heats things up. Which I don't necessarily care for but thats only happened twice. The Pizza has a nice char to it from a wood fire oven. No they didn't burn your pizza. It's all part of the flava!!! Recommendations: Sasuage, red onion and Mushroom or a Pepperoni Margarita. The Meatball It's just an ok specimen, very mild, three meatballs where they could easily put 4 there. My lovely wife usually gets an upset stomach from beer but for some reason Double Mountain Brews treat her right. BONUS! My biggest issue with Double Mountain Beers was that you could only get them via tap to Growler fills or here. They solved my problem with a new bottling line. Just make sure you return your bottles to brewery ( Read the fine print on their bottles.) Can be super chill or bat shit crazy busy. Every server I've had was spot on. It's in my top five Pacific Northwest Breweries. The beer styles have a wide range and are usually stellar. The Pizza just makes it so much harder to pass up. IF you know are going to Double Mountain, here's a friendly reminder: DON"T FORGET TO BRING YOUR GROWLER(S)!!!!!! Yes, I call my friends to take orders & bring a Iced Cooler for the ride back to PDX. No Problem buddy, Anytime! Your Welcome! Man, I love this place.

Was on a road trip and stopped at the town to get something to eat. Saw that the place had great reviews and was expecting good food. Man was I disappointed. We had a pepperoni pizza and a beer. The pizza was completely burned and greasy as hell and the beer wasn't good either. Definitely not worth the $18 for a pizza. I get better pizza for $5 at Little Caesar's.
(1)D B.
Not really a 3 star place, but for now this will serve as a starting rating. The beer was only so-so, and the salads were weak. Spinach salad was pretty tasty, say a 4; the caesar was barely a 2. I like my caesars wet! Wet as, uh, er, well. Uh. Wet! And garlic. A pinch of garlic would be nice. The place has that cold warehouse feel to it. That's okay of course, in summer. In winter? Just makes ya feel cold. Cold, average beer on a cold day. Doesn't that just holler, "party" to you?!?! The service was swell; very friendly, prompt. There just wasn't anything to make you want to come back unless it was summer and the warehouse feel was tolerable. Go back in summer? I think I'd rather WALKING MAN and watch the BNSF roar by outside. Three stars is too generous, so I'm going back and changing it to two. Ohhhhh, you saw that already I bet.

Most place in Hood River get me to feeling that I really ought to get a tattoo. Or a few. And go mountain biking. Wear more flannel. You know the feeling. DM Brewery has a friendly vibe. Eat on the couch, if you want, or at tables inside or out (on a sunny day), or belly up to the bar. I was dining solo so the bar got my custom, and an individual size thin crust pizza topped with pepperoni was perfect. Not too much cheese, a slather of sauce, and a bit of char from the hot oven. it was foldable, which is the way to eat a slice. The guy behind the bar - long brown beard, plus tats - was friendly, and gave me tastes of the Hop Lava and the Killer Red Fresh Hop IRA. Killer Red won with its richer flavor. On Day 2 in the AM, the leftover pizza was still pretty good - cold.

I LOVED this place! My daughter and her bf took me here when I came to visit them in Portland. I ordered the GOLIATHON beer, a dark, belgium quad style. It was delicious. We also ordered salad and pizza. The pizza is really good and has a nice crispy thin crust. I also loved the atmosphere of the the place. It was pretty crowded for a Tuesday afternoon. The staff is great too! I'm definitely coming back next time I visit Oregon.
(5)Craig M.
BEER: The beer is outstanding. From crazy hops to toasty malts you are guaranteed to find a delicious beer on their rotating beer menu. Some of their more adventurous creations fall flat but their mainstays are all quality brews. FOOD: The reason to make the drive from Portland for non-hopheads, is the pizza! The fall seasonal pizza "The Mushroom Hunter" is out of this world. So, you cannot go wrong with the mix of good beer and good food. And the locals know it! This place gets packed early for lunch and dinner. I recommend mid-afternoon for those who don't like crowds. However, even when filled to capacity, this brew-pub's service is top notch. When my wife and I made a trip out here recently we were incredibly bummed that their kitchen was closed for remodeling. When the good man behind the bar found out that it was my wife's birthday he kindly offered us a couple of pint glasses, to take home, to ease the disappointment. We will continue to bring out of town guests here to this jewel in Hood River. Beer and pizza for all!
(5)Jamie N.
This place seems pretty cool. They have some good crisp hoppy beers. Didn't get to try the food. The bartender was awesome-super friendly and had respect for the other breweries which I appreciate.

We decided to go with the Yelp recommendation upon stumbling into Hood River from Bend. Pretty excited to see New Haven style pizza in Hood River! Seated quickly, and had a very attentive waitress. I went for the Wed Head Wheat, my friend the Devil's Krieg (sour red). Mine went well with the large Spinach Salad and the extremely generously sized special pizza, the heirloom. Delicious slices of (in season) heirloom tomatoes with mozzarella and pesto. Yum. A solid pizza, though maybe a bit expensive And we even have a bit of leftover pizza...which I may just go eat right now.
(4)G T.
Very long wait. And, they lost our order. DiGorno's Frozen Pizza taste better and is much cheaper.
(1)Christy H.
The beer is amazing! Everything I have tried I have liked and this includes probably 6 different beers. The people who work there are super friendly and always offering tastings if you want to try something new without getting a whole pint. I LOVE the pizza there! It is cooked to perfection. Thin crust style. The place is often crowded but after you order a beer and some food you usually can find a seat in about ten minutes. The growlers are only $16 for the first time and $11 for a re-fill. This is my new favorite spot in Hood River. I highly recommend it!!
(5)Proteus D.
I was a little disappointed to be honest. Underwhelmed more to the point. After a long hard day at the wheel I stopped by for some food and a local beer. I won't deny that the beer was delicious. However the menu was VERY limited. Basically it was pizza or nothing. So I paid a pretty penny, for pretty average pizza. Very slow service too. I could have gone to Pizza Hut.
(3)Anthony K.
great beer, great people, great food and good service. I cant wait to see what it all looks like after the addition is finished. Cant wait to go back! Had a delicious pizza, their olives they serve are outstanding as well.
(4)B B.
Great pizza, great beer, awesome music. Matt and company makes this place an amazing hideout for locals and visitors alike. They're producing some fine sours and the perennially enticing Vaporizer dry hopped pale ale. The IRA and Brown also consistently bring balance and and unique flavors to the gorge. I'm especially bespotted with their kreik, sour brown, and kolsch. Word to the wise; the beer is so well balanced you barely notice the booze, please walk or get a cab! Good if you like : sours, cow-punk, wood fired pizza, stand up bassists, hanging with locals, dancing, raucous friday nights, sweating.
(5)Don B.
1,000 stars for the beer. 'Nuff said. I love their beer, and they had so many at the brewery that we just don't see here in Portland. Bourbon-barrel aged brown? YUM! 3.5 stars for the atmosphere. One side is a packed bar that's fairly chaotic when there's more than a few people inside. The other side is like... well... someone put up a party space in the brewing dock (which is exactly what it is). I could definitely get down with it, but especially moreso because the beer is so damn good. 3 stars for the cluster-fuck that is the ordering/serving process. Large area where food is delivered to you, but you order at the bar, where many folks were crowded around drinking, hanging out, etc. They don't give you a number to put at your table or anything, you just have to kind of come up with some code for where your table is at. The service itself was great but they messed up our pizza order (I told them no bacon, they didn't listen). 4 stars for the pizza (should be 5 based on how good the crust was, but the sauce/toppings combo on our special bianca/funghi/bacon/spinach/onion pizza left much to be desired). The pizza is cooked in a 700 degree oven, sot it's that great quick-cooked thin-crust style. From the smells I was getting all around the room I was expecting an amazing burst of flavor in my mouth with each bite, but I found our daily special pizza to be bland and, this never happens, but Hilary and I both agreed - it needed salt. I don't think I've ever had a pizza need salt. I can tell from how many people were jammed into the space, ooh'ing and aaah'ing over the pizza, that the other pies are bomb. I guess I will just have to wait until the next time I come back to try. Until then, it's primarily their beer that carries the 5-star load here.
(5)Dee G.
Great beer, friendly bartender, awful service. We were told it was a 20 minute wait. After an hour, we were told flat out, "oh, we forgot about you!" and didn't even bother to offer us a drink for waiting all that time. The waiter was pretty lame as well; he never once came back to check on us and our food took 45 minutes to get to our table, with no apologies whatsoever. The table that was seated after us got served long before we did and they felt quite bad--they even offered us some of their food! We tipped at 13% and that was probably too generous.
(1)Adam T.
In terms of the beer this place was 5 stars. Great selection of great IPAs, and other flavors. We went with two taster trays as this was our first trip there and wanted to sample as much as possible, and really didn't have a beer we didn't enjoy from the 10 we tried. Menu was sandwiches, salads and pizzas. Went with a sausage and mushroom pizza. Sausage had a good kick to it, mushrooms tasted fresh, and the pizza was really good overall. We went on a Saturday night; the wait was said to be 30-40 minutes, but was closer to 20-25 minutes for a table for 2. Fun atmosphere, staff was great, helpful, and friendly. Really I'd give this place 4.5 stars if I could. If you're in Hood River, check this place out!
(4)Jen W.
We walked in to the brewery at 9:50 and asked for a table last night. They said it would take about 20 mins but it was ok because they were open until 11. We waited at the bar and ordered drinks and waited and waited. Finally at 20 til 11 I tried to order food from the bar. We had been traveling all day and were starving. This is when the bartender told us the kitchen was closed. I was pretty angry since this would have been good information to have from the hostess when we were making a decision to wait for a table. The bartender was nice in trying to find something to scrounge up for is but it was really disappointing. I hope people are only rating this place on the beer and not the service because the service was below par. I would comment on the food but I didn't get to have any of that either. I will try another brewery today maybe I will have better luck
(2)Chad P.
I came to Double Mountain expecting great beer and food based off of others reviews, and I was slightly disappointed. First I have to start off by saying that the beer here is excellent. I tried several, and the Cluster as well as the Devil's Kriek were two of my favorites. Very different, but very good in their own regard. Now the bad: The pizza was very disappointing. I live in Portland and LOVE pizza, so I had high hopes for Double Mountain's. It was a huge let down. We ordered the Margherita Pizza. The toppings were sparse and the flavor was mediocre. I enjoy a cracker-thin crust, but in this situation, it was so thin and sparse on toppings you would have to eat half the pizza to get full. If you are looking for a quick snack, this could work, but we came in hungry, and unfortunately we left hungry. Additionally, it was loud to the point it was hard to converse. This wasn't a huge deal for us, but for anyone looking to have a good conversation, you might find it difficult compared to other similar venues. We were there early Saturday. Last words: Come for the beer, love the beer, cherish the beer, but don't go looking for a good dining experience, good service or amazing pizza, because you will probably be disappointed. I will be back for beer after eating somewhere else first.

Stopped in after a hike on a Sunday eve. It was crowded but there was room at the bar to sit. The service was good despite the business. I hate beer that is too hoppy and I was able to find some good beers. I got the sampler. I am big fan of the White Rider(Belgian strong ale) and Ain't that purdy (hefeweisen style). I haven't tasted a subtle malt like that since I was in Germany. The White Rider was nice, light and crisp, good malt. Lighter on the citrus than most but still very good and refreshing. Of the other three beers that I tried, the Kolsh and IRA were too hoppy, the Red Rider was so-so but not near as good as the white. I am 40, was dressed in hiking cloths and have no facial hair and felt very comfortable there. Then again, I was too busy enjoying good beer and conversation with the people I met sitting at the bar to be looking around and being all judgey.
(4)Dan C.
Probably my favorite brewery in the Pacific Northwest. If you are in PDX visiting and have access to a car it's worth the drive especially if you stop along the way to take in the majestic scenery of the gorge and the falls. The beer is world class and the pizza was delicious. If you haven't tried the beers then get the sampler otherwise just get a pint of your favorite. They also had bottles available of the Vaporizer and IRA when I was there as well as growlers and kegs. I wish I could take a keg of the vaporizer as a carry-on for my trip back home. My next trip to PDX will include a jaunt to Hood River.
(5)Anisa S.
Great place. Busy. Beer top notch (not for beginners), friendly attentive service, great pub grub!
(5)Aaron W.
The pizza was very good. And of course the beer is always good.
(4)Laurie G.
I. Love. This. Place. And I'm not even much of a beer person!
(5)Anna W.
oh, double mountain. how i want to love you so--you do have delicious pizza and a large selection of beers. alas, your consistently terrible service makes me doubt i will ever return. over the last four years, i have been to double mountain four times and have experienced a collection of flubs that should only happen at newly opened establishments--not at the crown jewel of hood river's bar and restaurant scene. my first negative experience was finding a long, dark hair baked into the crust of my pizza, and the last two times my order "didn't make it back to the kitchen" and i was left to wait for an hour for my food to arrive. now, i will say that management has comped me for various items in response to all of these issues. however, i simply do not want to spend any more of my time in their restaurant wondering what i might find in my food this time (a band-aid? another hair?), or if my order will make it back to the kitchen, as if my order is a sentient being who is able to get itself to the cooks rather than the server's responsibility to do so. if i find myself looking for dinner in hood river again, i will either: a) go to full sail for their food and drink selection or b) schlep my ass back to portland to get pizza at, say, apizza scholls. i'd rather wait an hour there for a table because at least i know they have great food and have never had a history of messing up my order.
(2)Ken S.
Good food and excellent beer with a great variety of options. My one and only criticism is they do not brew their best year round. Of course that is not a major problem since what they do have is excellent!! The pizza is fantastic and a great complement to the beer. I sure hope to return here sometime in the near future.
(4)Jonathan L.
Great beers, Great staff, Great place to watch a show. The remodel made a world of difference.
(5)Adam C.
The Pizza and Beer were amazing. I'd go out of my way, and happily wait for a table, to go here again.
(5)Rachel B.
This place is hit or miss. I think the problem is that yhey think they're cooler than they are, especially with so many great new options popping up in HR (Pfriem for better beer, Solstice for better pizza, food, and service.) I call them the "LA of Hood RIver" and it's probably just fine for the trustafarian ski bums. Even so, we will sometimes try coming here as long as we have a back up plan or if we're not actually that hungry. We tried to go on a recent Saturday night. Got there and the hostess was pretty snotty right off the bat, told us it would be a 45 minute wait, and said to please text if we changed our minds about eating there. (Um, no.) We left our name and number and went to get a drink up the street. While waiting we decided 45 minutes was too long to wait just to put in an order for beer and pizza at DM so decided to head for another spot. Well, 18 minutes after we had our encounter with the hostess we got a text that our table was ready. Not too helpful to get a 45 min estimate if it's really less than 20. We had decided to opt for another spot anyway long before we got the text. At DM the beer is just OK compared to several other local breweries, and while I like the Buffy pizza the menu is really abbreviated and not that exciting. (Especially when you have pizza and menu options like those at Solstice with numerous salads, pasta, appetizers, desserts, and of course their amazing locally sourced pizzas. Even many gf options.) I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because, when it is actually a successful endeavor to eat here, the Buffy is pretty good.

Stopped in Hood River on our way home from Walla Walla, WA to West Linn, OR. I was craving The Thai House on 13th street but sense it was Sunday they were closed. I searched Yelp and came across Double Mountain Brewery and thought pizza sounded good. My husband and I couldn't make up our minds so we ordered 1/2 margarita and 1/2 pepperoni. Holy cow the pizza was amazing. The pizza's are a skinny crust that is wood fired so the edges have a little charring that adds to the flavor of the pizza. The restaurant is bigger than it appears because there is a second seating area off to the right side, I loved the fun mix of music they had playing and the waiter and hostess were very nice. Unfortunately we didn't have any beer, but most of the tables did and they had a good selection available. Sure wish the Double Mountain Brewery was located in West Linn!!!

The beer here is really good but the pizza is...expensive. The pizza is good too, don't get me wrong. You even get your own personal pallets of herbs/spices/cheese to sprinkle on it. The problem: there is only one size of pizza. So if you roll in solo...you can't get a "small" or anything. Most pizzas are in the $16-18 range which is pretty stiff for pizza. It's in the style of some town in Connecticut that allegedly is the "pizza capital of the world" (I forget the name, sorry East-Coasters crucify me later), I don't know much about pizza, I'm from Florida. Despite the price it still was a pretty solid pie. Ok, let's get back to the real reason you should be coming here: the beer. The beer here is very good, and the place almost always has a handful of brews that are extremely challenging to procure in Portland or...well...anywhere but the brewery. The two I had were: Devil's Kriek: a 8% abv (!) sour ale made with local cherries and Killer Green: a fresh-hop IPA. Both were quite good. Double Mountain also gives you "real" pints, so you're looking at a solid 20 ounces of beer here kids. Be careful if you're stopping in here on the way into Portland, you've still got an hour of highway between you and home. I came here after a day of hiking on W'yeast, so...they hit a bit harder than usual. I also dug the atmosphere here, really laid back with red Christmas-tree-esque lights strewn about. The bartender was playing Bob Dylan tunes on his iPod and rocking the eff out. I'd much rather hang here than that "other" brewery in town (which is worth visiting too, no hard feelings), and if I lived in Hood River, I would be a fixture here.

I searched on Yelp for "dog-friendly" restaurants in Hood RIver, not expecting to find anything. In fact, Yelp came through with several options. I chose Double Mountain Brewery and was highly pleased with the service and the food (not to mention the fact that I could keep my dog at my side during our al fresco dining experience. This was the best wood-fire pizza I have had in a while. Salads were great. Service was friendly and professional.

First, I'll start with my only complaint, which is they won't let you call in a To Go order. I was trying to get a pizza to bring back to our hotel room but they said I had to come in to order it. I ended up enjoying my 25 min wait for my pizza though. I sat and had a half Greek salad and a beer. The salad was wonderful, couldn't have asked for anything better. The pizza was only warm when I got it back to our room. I would have liked to taste it hot out of the oven. I wasn't as impressed with it as I'd hoped to be, maybe I'd give it 4 Stars, but the brewery/pub had a great feel to it and the staff was wonderful.

My favorite brewery in Oregon. Every beer is simply amazing. The pizza is pretty damn good, too.

This is like a ritual for us, every summer we have to come to Double Mountain for our Pizza fix. Even my husband's friend from college loves it and can't wait to come visit us here so we can have our yearly excursion to DM. We had the usual, greek salad and two pizzas, the Margarita is so good. We also ordered the Mushroom, onion and sausage. What a fantastic meal. By the way, you go there for the pizza and not for the service, however if you know the ropes, you will have better service. At least now they have a girl taking names instead of having to stalk a table. I still love this place.

I stopped in for dinner and a beer with the girlfriend, convinced I'd love the place by all of the positive Yelps. We grabbed the very last table, even though the place was at less than half capacity it felt packed. It was extremely loud, louder than most bars I've been into, despite having no background music that I remember. There were no menus on the table, so I approached the bar to get one; it was a piece of semi-ruffled 8.5"x11" paper with writing on both sides. We picked a pepperoni pizza and two different beers. The service was decent, no wait for the beer and the pizza was out within 10 minutes. The pizza was about 4 stars; pretty good, it was just enough to fill the two of us up. The only negative part about it was the grease that it was dripping everywhere; it was probably the greasiest thin crust pizza I'd ever eaten. Admittedly neither of us are exactly beer connoisseurs, but the two different beers tasted exactly the same -- not great. Not bad, but not great either. We ended up not even finishing them.
(3)Andrew K.
Cool vibe in a (as said a local) "sleepy town that is waking up." Pizza looked great, but we sampled beers. The cherry stuff - esp. the sour one - was great!
(4)Yael S.
Awful food, sloooow service...
(1)Smiling I.
Food great, we had the pizzas and hummus, beer was good, service - aside from one young lady with tattoos who was pulling pints - the rest of them seemed uninterested, and quite frankly rude. Otherwise would have been four or five stars, and get wi-fi, everyone has it. Will give it one more when I'm in HR next time to see if service has improved. We lunched there yesterday, and we were at a BBQ last night with a bunch of friends and we mentioned the service, and everyone unanimously agreed the service had declined. No real patio either.

Just got back from a 10 day trip from the Pacific Northwest and the Columbia River Gorge was one of our stops. After a long day of hiking and seeing the waterfalls, we took a ride into the town of Hood River since we were recommended Double Mountain Brewery for their awesome pizza and brews. I must say, the pizza was delicious. Crispy, thin crust style, which went perfect with our flight of beer tasting. We ate at the bar area which wasn't to crowded. The beer flight tasting was enjoyable, but none of the beers really stood out for us. However, overall we really enjoyed the Double Mountain Brewery experience that I even bought a t-shirt.

On a recent trip through Hood River, myfriend and I stopped for a local brew and a bite to eat. The Double Mountain Brewery popped up on YELP! and so we gave it a go. The reviews were mostly spot on. The atmosphere was comfy and laid back; the crew was quick and friendly. We had read that the pizzas were faboo, so we tried one. We had the Sausage, mushroom, and onion pizza on the recommendation of other patrons and brewmasters. The Viande sausage was as good as everyone described. It was well seasoned and had perfect texture. I had a pint of the Kolsch and my hop-loving pal had the Hop Lava. Both of us were quite pleased with our selection. I usually try the Kolsch whenever we hit a new brewery - it's the cheese pizza of beers, approachable and mellow; a safe choice for those of us with a more laidback palate. The DMB Kolsch was smooth and refreshing, a very drinkable beer...I could've easy had 3...or 10... We'll definitely be going back to the DMB the next time we go to Hood River. It's easy access on and off the freeway, and there was no trouble finding room in the well-peopled brewery. Enjoy!

Yes, the beer is *excellent*, but in terms of a a taproom this place was very disappointing. The ordering system leaves much to be desired. We came for the first time on a fairly busy Saturday afternoon and had a hard time ordering. Apparently you don't HAVE to go to the bar to order - if you're one of the chosen. Our server said "sorry I didn't see you" when in fact we were in front of the bar, and while she was handing four menus to a group of guys who obviously sat down after us. She never took our order. She took the other group's order later on. The pizza is decent, but it certainly does not deserve the accolades it's received. Straight from New York in Salem is FAR better, and they don't haphazardly slap some basil on and call it a Margherita pizza and charge an astonishing 17$? Apizza Scholls is far cheaper and loads better. The atmosphere was odd as well. We felt like we were being stared at for being the out of towners, an unwelcoming vibe I have NEVER received at Big Horse or Full Sail. I was looking forward to this trip all week, and was really sad to be this disappointed.
(2)Dave M.
Superb magherita pizza with a perfect Northeast style thin slighty charred and crispy crust with a bit of sweetness. Have a hard time getting crust this good in NY and NJ anymore.
(5)G D.
We (6 guys) stopped for lunch and a couple pints on the way from Portland to Mt. Hood, and really enjoyed this place. Great beers and the pizza was tasty as well. Apparently quite popular with the locals, as I discovered later. Would have loved to have more time to explore the town... looked cool. A quick 5 min drive to the kite-surfing area, as well.
(4)Jason C.
Had a couple of pints here yesterday along with a few samples. Hopheads will rejoice as the IPAs have an aggressive northwest citrus hop well balanced with good backing malt. Try the American Red ale for a maltier version of the regular IPA that still has all the hops you want. I also sampled the steam porter and dry Irish stout and both were excellent. In general, the atmosphere is relaxed and the food (mostly pizzas from what I saw) smelled wonderful. It's worth a visit when stopping in Hood River.
(4)Ryan S.
Could be a five-start joint. If they get maybe one more server to help out. This is really they only reason they lose a star. It seemed as though our waitress went on break, leaving one guy to handle the entire place it appeared. And it was quite full. They also need to improve upon their way of handling sampler requests. One person ordered the samples they wanted (I think it's either 5 or 6), she leaves and gets them, then comes back and takes the next person. They need some order sheets. Thankfully, we were in no rush, so on to the good stuff... The beers: Each offering was well-crafted and full-flavored. My favorites were the malty/smooth bodied/hoppy blend of the India Red Ale (IRA), the Hop Lava IPA (of course!), and the "Bohemian Rhapsody" Pilsner. The pilsner was a last minute add to my sampler and I'm glad I did. It was a great pilsner, with a very crisp hop flavor. I would love to have access to this pilsner all summer long. Five-star beer experience as far as I'm concerned. The pizza: We ordered a margherita and sausage pizza. These pizzas are great bar/brew pub pizzas made up with a thin crispy crust, slightly charred. We heard one of the owners was from New Haven, and the wife and her family (fellow CT folk from just outside New Haven) gave the pizza two thumbs up. They also staggered the two pizzas coming out which was great for our table space. Very good stuff. Atmosphere: It's friggin beautiful Hood River, the sun is shining, brews are flowing, pizza is fresh out of the oven...what's not to love? Very cool joint and with better service this place would easily be a 5 star. Despite the large number of unexplored breweries in Portland area, I would make a return trip to this brewery if in the area.
(4)Rob B.
During my vacation in Hood River I ended up at Double Mountain a couple of times it was that good. The pizza is perfect, nice crispy, thin, charred and blistered all in a good way. The beer is pretty amazing too I was totally digging on the Dapper Dan nitro and really enjoyed the IRA too. They have the best beer out of every micro brew I tried on my trip to Oregon. One of the things I loved most about this place is they are a working brewery with bins of spent grains being pulled out right by the front door and the sweet smell of all that malt filling the air. I also got the opportunity to talk with one of the brewers about the grains used in their Dapper Dan. Great people and just wished I could have a local spot like this back in Florida.
(5)H M.
This place has the best food-beer combos in town. Their pizza is thin crust, Italian style pies. The beers are fantastic and they have a great bitter cherry lambic that was made with local cherries. I also recommend the chips and salsa: Juanita's chips paired with Penny's Salsa, both made in Hood River. Cheers!
(5)Kevin M.
Had lunch and a sandwich here after walking up to Multnomah Falls. The pale ale was excellent and the BLT was tasty.
(4)Bret H.
If your in hood river and love beer and food, I strongly recimend This brewry over full sail. Great sour beers are being produced here, as well as super hoppy stuff.
(5)Megan V.
The beer is good and I had great food - great guacamole, inventive pizzas and solid sandwiches - but I will most likely never go back to Double Mountain because my friends and I were treated rudely by some employees. I have to say, I am a good customer. I'm always polite and patient. Which is why our treatment was so bizarre - it came out of nowhere and ruined the otherwise delicious meal we had. Eat here at your own risk.
(2)Tya P.
Super yummy joint in hood river. Matches apizza scholls in terms of taste and quality! The only reason I gave them a 4 rather than a 5 is because they skimp on the toppings. If I order mushrooms I want mushrooms with every bite!!! They could be a little more liberal with it. Still crust is thin crust and flavorful like new York. Definitely will always stop by when I'm at hood river!!!
(4)Ryan B.
I stayed in Hood River for about 2 weeks for work in the Columbia Gorge and I ate either lunch or dinner at double mtn almost every day. Very friendly staff with lots of beer knowledge. The pizza is always great, and the beer selection was outstanding and very tasty. I'm not a fan of Belgian style brews, but all the rest here were very very good. Avoid the tourist season if you don't want to wait. and be prepared for some trustafarians, it seems only about half the people in this town actually have to work for a living....
(5)Jenn C.
Forget about the fact that you have to drive to Hood River (which is lovely anytime of year) to get one of the best beers made in Oregon (which of course means "the world"). Forget that the taproom (brewery) is small and I'm assuming always busy with folks who know what's good for them. Remember that Double Mountain Brewery crafts some amazing beer. Learn here that their pizza is absolutely the BEST I have had in my life. They bake the pizza at like 700 degrees so you get that crispy, slightly charred crust with some fresh ingredients that are probably as good as the apples Hood River pumps out each fall. You can find Double Mountain brew in and around Portland pubs, but to have their selection right there in front of you is what it must be like to have your childhood hero stop in front of you and you muster up the courage to actually say a stammered "h-h-h-h-i". I haven't been to Hood River any other time, except on May 8th. Now, I will be back for some fresh off the tap brew and 'za.
(5)Edward K.
Great pizza! Perhaps the best in the area. The beer is good, but some complain it causes head aches. I've never personally experienced this. The part I dislike the most about DM is that it's small, loud, and crowded. Hood River is a trendy town and this is the hot brewery to go to. So, all the weekenders descend on The Hood and flood this place creating ridiculous long waits to be seated.
(3)Heather K.
Definitely the best brewery I have found in the Portland area. True, it's an hour from the city, but it's well worth it and the drive is pretty. Oh. And the beer is amazing! We ordered the beer sampler since that's always a great place to start when trying a new brewery. We got eleven 4-ounce pours: kolsch (very tasty), India Red Ale, Devil's Kriek (I hate sour beer but I actually enjoyed this one), Red Light District, Tripel Nipel (my favorite of the bunch), Fa La La La La (their winter seasonal), spicy brown (this one actually tasted more like winter with the cloves and cinnamon), hop lava, vaporizer, black Irish (my least favorite of the bunch - a fairly flavorless stout), and sacre bleu. While sipping on this huge sampler, we placed our orders for the pizzas on the lunch special. They're a bit smaller than the dinner portion, but only about half the cost. I had the pepperoni while Eddie had the truffle shuffle. The pizzas are cooked in a coal oven heated to 700 degrees. The thin crust pizza gets cooked very quickly and comes out with a few bubbles and char spots which I love - they just add some character to the pizza. After scarfing down the pizzas and finishing the samplers, we still had time left on the parking meter so we ordered a round of drinks. Eddie went for an imperial pint of Vaporizer (reasonably priced at $4.50) while I went back for my favorite Belgian style Tripel Nipel which was only $5.00 for a 12-ounce goblet. I love that the beers are amazing and very reasonable priced. Everything was so great that we decided to make a growler purchase. Unfortunately we had left our empty (Deschutes) growler at home, but Double Mountain only charges $5.00 to purchase the growler. We filled it with the Tripel Nipel for $18 and walked away very satisfied. I am so happy to have made the little trek to Hood River to give this brewery a try. I think the beers are absolutely stellar and the pizzas are delicious. I can't wait to head back out here for a growler refill.
(5)Robert C.
Cool bought a jug of beer going to drink it on the way.
(5)Ms F.
Might be the best pizza I've had...ever. Service was awesome. Sat at the bar in an awkward spot behind the taps but none of the servers let that get in their way. Beer was very good, would have preferred a few hoppier varieties. Only reason we knocked a star off. Would come back in a heartbeat.
(4)Ryan B.
If you want to experience some of the finest beer in the PNW, look no further. Double Mountain is great place to experience great beer, amazing pizza, and friendly hood river locals. Check this place out. You won't be disappointed. Drink the IRA and eat the Buffy and add sausage.
(5)Sam M.
What can I say about DM that hasn't already been said, other than this place is awesome. It ranks 1st or 2nd on my 'best beer ever' scale which says a lot. Their pizza is just as amazing, I can't get enough!@
(5)Jessica D.
Best pizza in Oregon and tasty beer! I went here recently with some friends after going for a hike in the gorge. What a delight! The space is small but we managed to find a table right away (probably because it was 3PM). All of our food was very tasty. I eat a lot of pizza and can say this is by far the best I've tried in Oregon. It beats Flying Pie. It beats Escape from New York. The beer was also very good. It's too bad they only brew Devil's Kriek once a year and don't let you buy it to take home. If I lived in Hood River - this beer would be a problem for me! In a town filled with overly hopped up beers this was a true delight. I highly recommend Double Mountain next time find yourself in Hood River - even if you are just passing though.
(5)J S.
not cheap but the pizza is made fresh, very good. Also try the furious five brew-yum!
(4)Anonymous A.
This place Gets ridiculously busy, because it's fucking amazing. If you have the "I'm more important than everyone else and shouldnt have to wait for anything" kind of attitude, skip the weekend here. But if you're down for a chill mellow afternoon drinking beers and waiting for the best pizza you will have on the west coast, this is your place. The best service, food, beer, and atmosphere in hood river... By far.
(5)Greg W.
My sister and I made the obligatory stop in Hood River to get our "victory beer" after doing some hiking in the Starvation Creek area. The way they have their service setup (you have to order at the bar and point to where you are sitting) is a little frenetic but the servers are completely pleasant. The interior was fairly ordinary, with an impromptu lounge setup in the neighboring room. On the nice day that we visited, however, everyone was angling for the four outdoor tables that they had setup. Double Mountain beer is as good as others have purported. The Hop Lava IPA and AlpenBrew beers are definitely similar - with the Hop Lava obviously having more hop flavor to it. I enjoyed both. The Kolsch was the closest good example of a German-style beer that I've had out of a local microbrewery. Better than Spaten for sure. Their Black Irish Stout is also much closer to their British counterparts then the stouts that other Pacific Northwest microbreweries produce - think of the smoothness of a Guinness with a little more deep roasted flavor. Unfortunately the food that we tried didn't stand up to the quality of the beer. The meat in their Turkey, Bacon and Avocado sandwich was of good quality, but unfortunately their sourdough looked and tasted like white bread. The quality of the bread in a sandwich is key. Their meatball sandwich consisted of a few meatballs in a toasted poor-boy bun with a little marinara and cheese splashed on top. Whoopty doo. Perhaps I should have tried the pizza - as the thin crust pies that our neighboring diners ordered looked pretty appetizing - but I usually avoid meals with high amounts of cheese. To put things into perspective - I'd take these beers over Full Sail (which I also happen to like). This is a great stop to enjoy a beer after enjoying your favorite mountain or river activity. Five stars for the beer and three stars for the food and atmosphere nets the Double Mountain Brewery four stars in my book.

Remember when that article came out saying that beer was more hydrating than water following strenuous exercise? (Or something along those lines that I then twisted around to fit my own personal needs.) Fewer people, in my experience, take that more seriously than the hikers and climbers in my life. We celebrate anything and everything with beer. Climbed a mountain? Drink a beer. Hiked a trail? Drink a beer. Failed to lose critical pieces of gear? Drink a beer. Managed your rope well? Drink a beer. Step on the rope? Buy your team a beer and then drink it with them. There's a definite pattern. I found myself at Double Mountain for the first time (embarrassingly) after hiking Ruckel Ridge this past weekend with a handful of hardy, drenched souls. We streamed into the bar looking like bedraggled, drowned rats, stinking of wet wool and sweat. Double Mountain welcomed us with lots of seating options, excellent food, and damn good beer. I had a Hop Lava and a Farmhouse Ale (both tasty and hydrating, of course) and shared a vegetarian mezze platter with hummus, dolma, fresh vegetables, olives, and peppadew peppers. The food hit the spot and came out quickly, but I did die a little inside at the lack of really viable vegan options for their pizza which looked amazing. I'm sure they'd leave off the cheese, but I still found the selection to be a tad uninspired. Can't make a big deal out it, though - it's a brewery and they do offer a few vegan options. Personally, I can't complain about the combination of good food, good friends, good tunes (dominated by Jerry and Phil, if you know what I mean) and cute bartenders. And to the employee with the big blue-green eyes - thanks, you're cute too!
(4)Emily T.
Dear Double Mountain Brewery in Hood River Oregon: THANK YOU FOR ACTUALLY BEING A BREWERY that makes me feel like I am in a pub where beer is being brewed rather than an apple bees with good beer on the menu. There are so many brewery's that have fallen into this trap, and you have not. I love you for exactly who you are and the beer that you create. I had some hopped up glory in a pint and it is now my favorite beer in Oregon in life. I admit I did not try the food but I will be back and I will indulge in that tasty menu and award you that 5th star. Love, Me
(4)Scott S.
Almost always packed, but always great service. The beer is great, and the pizza is OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD. Double Mountain is a must if you're going to be anywhere near Hood River.
(5)Jimmy W.
Poor customer service!! Beer menu is great but not much on the food menu, limited seating inside.
(3)Dena R.
Yummy spot on our trip as we drove the "Infinity Loop" to Mt. Hood and Timberline Lodge, watched the orchards go by in Wine Country, and then stopped for dinner in Hood River at Double Mountain Brewery. The place was packed, so we nabbed a table outside. I found the waitress friendly and accommodating; they were generous in giving me my requested side of dolmathes and she filled my tea thermos w/hot water.
(4)Markus H.
I have always made fun of "Brewery Guy." You know him. He wears a hat from his favorite brewery. He probably rocks a t shirt too. Maybe even the hoodie. He always beings over a growler of their beer to any BBQ, tailgate, birthday party, Christmas, Chanukah, Passover, Thanksgiving, you get the point. He only drinks their small batch IPA, their seasonal ale, their blah blah blah. I make fun of this guy. Yet I have slowly come to accept I am that guy for Double Mountain. I force all my friends to drink their beer whenever we are at a bar that has it on tap. I thankfully don't have all the garb, but I wouldn't be shocked if I someday do. I might just move to Hood River for the Double Mountain Brewery alone. I will be brief because this place is a five star spot. Had the pizza. Super thin, great crust, perfect amount of cheese, and the right size for splitting with one other person. It's great. Get it. If you don't get the pizza, get the Juanita's Chips and Salsa. It's the best tortilla chip in America and it's made in Hood River. The beer. Double Mtn makes the best beer ever. Seriously, this is my favorite place. The sampler for 16 bucks is worth every cent. If you don't want to go that direction try the Alpenbrew, the IRA, the Hop Lava, or the I'm just going to list ever beer they have so that's not very helpful. If you go to Hood River, you owe it to yourself and your unborn children to visit this place. It's incredible. And most weekends they have live music. Hard to beat.
(5)Jerome D.
Great place to hang out! Double Mountain is always my go to place when I have friends and family members visiting. It represents the spirit of Hood River. Friendly atmosphere, good beers, great pizzas, interesting bands, nice service. The place is always filled a good mix of people whether there are locals, travelers, outdoor junkies, or people on a business trip. If you head down the street and hit this sweet brew pub, just take it easy, relax and enjoy a good beer and conversation with your friends, colleagues or the guy/gal sitting next to you at the bar.
(5)Jeff M.
A Haiku Review of Double Mountain: You're in Hood River? Then come to Double Mountain. F*cking LOVE this place.
(5)Zakk D.
a local brewery if there every was one, Double Mountain came highly recommended from one of the owners of the B&B I was staying at ( yelp.com/biz/seven-oaks-… ) named Greg, who also worked at Full Sail a while back. He said without hesitation, that this place had the best beer in the area and he was spot on. I had two very distinctive brews while there: The Devil's Kitchen, which was a very potent, but smooth and fruity ale that went great with a chicken sammich. Then I turned to a Crag Rat Porter, which was really a dark ale, so my taste buds were longing for the semi-sweet and bitter taste of a micro porter but it was not to be. Lots of locals here and while the food is good, it's all about the beer when you come to Double Mountain Brewery.
(5)David F.
A must stop in Hood River if your a beer fan!!! Great food also and very friendly people, staff & guests
(5)Daddy O.
I can't believe I didn't actually make it here...I was so close and didn't even know it! Almost the entire time I was in Stumptown I kept insisting on going to try some delicious microbrews. Well somehow we were all the way out at the Bonneville Dam and turned around for Portland instead of carrying on to Hood River and of course, DMB. Don't make my mistake, plan ahead! The beer I was lucky enough to try at Broder was one of the best beers I've had in a long time. It was perfectly light and crisp like a pils, but finished with a nutty light malt with a hint of sweet that just clinched it! I wanted to bring some home with me but alas, you can only enjoy these beers from the keg. Dang! I'd make the trip back to PDX JUST FOR THIS BEER! Make the trip, yourself, it's completely worth it! Heck, you can even do Multnomah Falls, the scenic drive, Bonneville Dam, and then grab beer and snacks in Hood River. Talk about a perfect day!
(5)Richard H.
This is about the beer. Yes, I said the BEER! Double Mountain Brewery and Taproom is the brewery of choice when in Hood River. Their beer just tastes delicious and better than all around. Okay, I have only had two beers there, the Hop Lava and the Vaporizer a dry-hopped pale ale. Both were so very, very nice that we took home a growler. Okay, yes the place is small, the service is by their own rules, the garage seating is well a garage, and I do not know about the food. Did I tell you that this is about the beer?
(5)Michael M.
Great pizza & beer! Not much else needs to be said
(4)Sue S.
Well, My husband and I did not have as good of experience as these other people, quite the contrary. We were visiting Hood River last weekend and went into Double Mountain Brewery only to be completely ignored. It was a seat yourself pub on Friday night, thank goodness as nobody acknoedged us. Sat down waited about fifteen minutes and still a server did not make their way to our table. Two younger guys walked in and sat down and within seconds were greeted and had a menu. Needless to say we walked out. Rude and insulting. We went on to Full Sail Brewery and enjoyed a delicious meal. No worries, we have spread the news. Sue
(1)Andy T.
Excellent pizza! Kinda crowded tho.
(4)tammy l.
After waiting 45 minutes to get a small spinach salad and a BLT, we bailed. The hostess (never saw our waitress after she brought our drinks) brought out the salad at 45 minutes and said "oh, do you both want your meal together? Its going to be another 10 minutes for the sandwich." (Huh?) Then she offered to take the salad back "if you don't want it now." Not wanting to wait anymore, we asked for the check for our drinks. Waited another 5 minutes before the unsmiling waitress came by and said "I'm sorry you think you waited too long." Grr. how about "I'm sorry your wait was too long, have a drink on us!" Anyway, the manager came out and admitted that our order had been lost, and that if we wanted to wait a bit longer it would be out in a few minutes. No, thanks. To his credit, he comp'd our diet coke and beer. Wouldn't bother going back with all the other choices in this cute town.

Why is possibly the best pizza in Portland not in Portland? I don't know, but it is frustrating. So many places that specialize in pizza, and they're outdone by this little brewery. First off...double mountain is an awesome brewery. Most of their beers are top notch. Get the taster if you haven't before, and you'll probably consider it again if you have. They have some standbys...IRA, Hop Lava, Kolsh, and a nice pale, these are solid beers. Then they have they're specialties. Barrel-aged IRB is a blend of a few of these and some other ingredients (whiskey?), smooth as can be for how big it is. I really like the IRs. Then there's the pizza. Gorgeous cracker-thin crust, fresh, flavorful, and creative toppings, and appropriate cheese and sauce lightly applied. There's a back room, but the only outdoor seating is streetside and limited. Unless I'm missing something, which happens. Double Mountain is sorta what I wish HUB had become.

Stopped in here to try the beer before heading back to Portland. The place was pretty busy already for just opening about 30 minutes before. Ordered a four beer sampler and I have to say all four of them were all pretty soild. I wish I would of been hungry so I could have tried some of their food. All the food I saw come out of the kitchen looked fabulous especially the hot pastrami sandwich and the pizza. Double Mountain's pizza is New Haven style, which I'm a big fan of. I wish I would of looked at their menu before I had ate elsewhere.
(5)Bill N.
Boy it is a busy place. A little too hectic for me. The pizza was thin crust and pretty good but a little over done. I like it crispy but this was a little black and tasted a little too charred.

Decided to take a little drive over to Hood River one beautiful sunny saturday and cruise the town. We haven't spent much time here and every time we drive past or through HR we always say we need to come back and hang out. Decided to eat at Double Mountain off a friend's recommendation. The place was packed, but we were able to find a table in side area (the wharehouse?). There aren't any servers, when you're ready to order you order with the bartenders at the bar. For four of us, we ordered the large Ceasar Salad, which was huge. Plenty of salad for all four of us for $8. Then two pizzas, we had the Sausage, Onion and Mushroom and The Buffy (goat cheese, kalamatas, peppadews (sweet & spicy pepper) & fresh basi). All I can say is, some of the BEST pizza I've had in the NW. I love thin crust pizza and I love the way these pizzas are slightly charred to get that brick oven fresh fire taste! The crust on this pizza is amazing! I preferred the Sausage, onion & mushroom, but The Buffy was really good too! Can't wait to go back and order their pepperoni, on that dough!!! Mmmmmmmm. Now wait, it doesn't end there! Double Mountain has stellar beer! I had the India Red and the Hop Lava, both excellent! Yesterday we went to the Hop Fest in HR and I got to try their newly released Killer Green (Fresh Hop IPA)! A must try!!! They said they should have it on tap through November! Dang, now I feel like driving to Hood River again for some pizza and beer....

Love this place. Sometimes the servers act a bit snooty, but if "TicToc" is pouring the beers, it's great. Love, I mean, I freak'n love the Jersey Pie and the Kolsch. If I could live on just that seven nights a week, I'd be one happy person.

This is one of my favorite breweries in Oregon. The first thing you notice is the warm smell, made up of a mixture of malt and lightly charred NY style pizza. The whole atmosphere is warm and friendly and the staff obviously has a passion for beer and have pride and love for their craft. True it is over an hour out of the city and true Hood River is getting a bit upscale in that I moved here from California sort of way. However, I am more than willing to drive that hour to get me a SACRÉ BLEU or if it is winter time to get their seasonal Fa La La La La. Double Mountain Brewery is what a pub should be! Take note Vancouver, land of Sports bars that call themselves pubs. You do not need a dozen flatscreens to gain a loyal following, just some really good food, amazing beer and staff that have a passion for what they do.
(5)Blake K.
Great place to drink at and have food. Had their Indian Red Ale and a pizza. There was great and the pizza was even better. I recommend this place to anyone who comes up to Hood River! Really Friendly staff!
(5)Jesus A.
The place has great selcion of ales and are very good. Great drinks with a group of friends and at time has live music. Enjoy a drink and listen to music is fun.

Wrapped up a great day of snowshoeing with friends with dinner and a beer at Double Mountain. It was exactly what we needed after a day of exertion. I'm a huge fan of the India Red Ale (IRA). Imagine my delight when I saw they had their IRB (a blend of IRA's aged in Oak and Bourbon Barrels) on tap. It was fantastic! It's a big beer, 9% I believe, but so smooth and tasty! Friends had the Fa La La La and the Standard Porter, both enjoyed their choices. We split a Pizza Margherita and Mezza Platter. The pizza was so good. Excellent dough, and the perfect thickness of crust. Obviously Double Mountain doesn't run the volume of beers to run Full Sail out of business, but they very may well force Full Sail to step up their tap room, which is a pretty weak venue.
(5)Penny S.
Great Pizza, great beer & a great greek salad. Sit at the bar, my personal favorite, and you'll get quicker service. They are always busy and the atmosphere is very laid back. Perfect for a Sunday late lunch, early dinner or if you're just trying to get your grub on. The boy loves the vaporizer, I love the selection of local wines.
(4)Eda S.
I'll be brief on this one: Good beer, but a little on the expensive side for me ( I like my beer in quantity as well as quality) Good food, but I'm dieting Good bands, and no cover charge! They do close a little early and live music is not routine, but is a good addition to the TINY hood river bar scene.

Stopped by Double Mountain looking for a place to grab a beer after a day of hiking in the gorge. I have always been a fan of their beers and consider them to be one of the strongest small scale microbreweries in Oregon. On arrival we noticed that the place was pretty crowded (not as crowded as I have seen it on other trips) and we managed to squeeze our group of 5 around a table (about a 10 minute wait). We mostly drank beer, but watching those pizzas get delivered to other patrons certainly made me want one. As far as the selection of brew is concerned they had plenty of choices and although I can't remember what I got it was certainly tasty and I was buzzing after two. In the end it is an excellent Hood River spot to grab a beer and although it is small inside the vibe is low key and the people mostly friendly. Next time I am going to get the pizza and see if we can't move that 4 star to a 5 star. I will certainly be returning.
(4)Michael G.
Way cool place. Small and cozy brick building if I remember correctly. They have a dining/bar that was jamming when I was there a couple weeks back. Really good thin crust pizza and I was impressed with their beer selection too! After we finished eating to our surprise the next room over opens up into a dance floor and they had some really good live music kickin. I will return!
(4)Emily T.
One of my favorite Oregon days is a round of disc at Rooster Rock followed by pizza and beer at Double Mountain. Their IRA is on my top-5-beers-of-all-time list and I love the thin crust pizza. Seriously, the pizza rivals the best places in Portland. Skip Full Sail (especially the food - yuck) and go straight to Double Mountain.
(5)Dave R.
I am in complete love with this place. I have had great luck with the bartender staff, and the beer and food is great. My favorite pizza so far is the basic Margherita as it is tasty, light, and simple. The beers are fantastic if you like big beers, but they do have lighter beers also. The Kolsch is a pretty perfect beer, and if you like to be adventurous, go ahead and ask for samples for both of the Krieks. The Ranier is my my favorite, but Devil's Kriek is also very tasty, if not a bit dry of a finish for me. They've expanded the place and have added an extra bar-top since I was last here, and it seems to be growing very fast, but keeping it's original roots at heart. This is the epitome of "brewpub."
(5)Nick M.
Well, I understand that this is a brewery that happens to have a tap-room attached, and no-doubt, the beer is outstanding. However, the rest of the place is lacking in several areas. The outdoor seating is really hard to come by, and the windows inside don't open out onto the street the way they are literally begging to. Sure, they have the weird warehouse thing on the side where you can sit, but they have hardly made the most of that. One of our group was not drinking, and wanted soda water - they don't have any. Oh well, but this gets three stars rather than four because in addition to those small failings the restrooms were grim. I want to love this place, and the beer is top notch, but they're not really making any effort in the other areas - to be fair, they don't seem to have to.
(3)Tara S.
Small space with weird cowboy decor...and I kinda liked it. Some okay beers and some really good ones, and not a bad one in the bunch. Really good ones include Alpenbrew and IRA. Get a sampler of everything on tap for $10 and pick your own favorites. Now, I'm not ready to say Double Mountain is the new Full Sail, and for very good reason: it's a whole different brewgame over there. If anybody else this good sets up shop nearby, I'm going to start a regular Hood River pub crawl...
(4)Casey D.
This is the perfect example of a great Pacific Northwest brewpub! We went there for lunch and liked it so much that we went back for dinner. Had the hot pastrami and swiss sandwich and a Greek salad at lunch. Both were excellent. Generous portions; the salad was actually one of the best salads I've ever had, second only to a $14 Cesar I had once at a much fancier place. Ingredients here are local and salad dressing was homemade. For dinner we got the margherita pizza. It was a perfectly cooked thin crust pizza with just the right amount of toppings. Again, one of the best I've had. The place is fairly small but there is extra seating outside and in an adjacent "garage." I like that you order everything at the bar like in a British pub (that means you never have to wait for a waiter to come by!!). Overall, a relaxed atmosphere, and kids are allowed during the day too. Service was very friendly, was the wait for the food was not very long. I tried the Kolsch, the IPA, the pilsner, and the pale ale. All were definitely Pacific Northwest style - very heavy on the hops. Even the pilsner had 50 IBUs! The Kolsch was drinkable and delicious, and was the least hoppy of the group. The bitterness of these beers was balanced by a full hop flavor which made them quite enjoyable. Other breweries (one very nearby) skimp on the hop flavor, giving their beers a bitter effect and little more. But these DBM ales (and the lager) are truly full-flavored craft brews, and I would order each of them again - hopefully soon. Also, the glasses are properly filled 20 oz imperial pints ($4.50), not the 14-15 oz pours that most places give you.

This review really only need two words, Double Stout! Holy Mary and Her Son should go here...Joe's a regular.
(4)Kelly H.
Pizza: Excellent, best we ever had. Charred on the bottom, thin crispy good crust, high quality toppings. Not many varieties to choose from though. Greek salad: Good to excellent. Nice and salty, fresh greens, big olives. Beer: Yep. Pretty spendy but worth it.
(5)Chris D.
Great place to get in, have a few amazing beers that they have and order a great pizza pie east coast thin crust and good. 3 stars only because the people that were working that night had attitude and service sucked. If I'm back craving a pie, I'll order one to go and grab one of their amazing beers to go also in a growler. Their Bonne Idee is my favorite beer ever!
(3)Bob L.
Great pizza! However, staff looked stressed from the place being over crowded, and it showed through their lack of good service. I don't mind that, but they were all unfriendly to boot, and I felt as if I was putting them out. Rude. They really didn't seem to care if we stayed or not. People in my party felt the same, bad service. Really sorry to say that since the beer was as good as the pizza.
(2)Adrienne S.
This is the lowest tip I've ever given anyone, anywhere. We had to wait so long for our pizza that the waitress actually started cleaning up our plates, until we told her, "We haven't actually eaten yet." Later, I stood at the bar for a half-hour to close out our tab, while people to the left, right and behind me got served, with little taster glasses and everything. I'd probably still be standing there, had not someone actually pointed out that hey...that girl has been standing her a long time. I'm not really sure what I did to make this waitress want to make sure that I never came back. Maybe it's hard to see the little brown girl standing in the middle of bunches of big white dudes wearing rash guards. The beer and pizza were decent, and I had a decent tab. I was going to buy a T-shirt until I decided I didn't actually want to remember this experience. There are enough breweries around here that I don't have to go somewhere that's going to make me feel like a chump for waiting two hours for pizza.
(2)Emily M.
I love Double Mountain's beer. I think they make some of the best beer in Oregon. Several years ago, a friend told me to definitely stop at Double Mountain for lunch and a beer when I was going to Hood River for the day. Since then, I've been back many times and have always had a great experience. Good food, great beer, and nice atmosphere. I recommend their hop lava and a pizza. Until today....I've been there before when it has been really busy either on a Saturday afternoon or during their festival. Today was also a busy day with a full room of people. Yet, the bartender never waited on us. We waited more than 10 minutes before we just left. He saw us. I guess our lack of long blonde hair made him less interested in serving us one of their fine brews. We went somewhere else and enjoyed a different bar with much less attitude. I hope this was just a one-time experience but it will probably be awhile before I go back. Instead, I'll go across the river to Everybody's Brewery and get some equally good beer and amazing food.

I love Hood River The server's wearing flip-flops Imperial pints
(5)Keegan M.
Traveled into town on Christmas night so pretty much most of the town was shutdown, except Double Mountain! As we walked in the staff and peopel were friendly and seemed to all having a good time. We ordered the Fire On The Mountain Pizza-- roasted chicken, fire wing-tomato sauce, cheese and green onions. It was AMAZING! The crust was perfectly charred and the wing-tomato sauce was perfectly spicy. It tasted like we were eating chicken wings on pizza. The beer was also just as good. The best in our trip throughout the Pacific Northwest. I definitely recommend the Vienna, as it tasted like buttah!
(5)Jody R.
Outstanding beer and pizza! We tried 3-4 different beers and were impressed with them all, which is saying a lot as I am somewhat of a beer snob (read my other brewpub reviews). I only wish we'd had more than one day in Hood River to enjoy another meal/beverage here - we were on a cross-country trip. We had a truffle pizza made with local ingredients. Eating local is a growing trend and Hood River has a couple places that support that concept with Double Mountain being one. After filling ourselves and our growlers, we were ready to leave when we noticed an 8x11 sign on above the bar advertising "Matt's cherries - $1/pint)" Turns out Matt is the brew master and the cherries are from trees on his property. We picked up a pint to enjoy on the way home. It was more like a pound and they were the best Ranier cherries we'd had on our extended trip to the Pacific NW. In the end, we wish we'd had more growlers to fill and picked up a few pints of cherries. We'll definitely be back here if we are ever in Hood River again.
(5)jennifer b.
Amazing pizza. Amazing beer. Amazing waitstaff!!! Best brew pub in Hood River! We had the Buffy, it was fantastic. The crust was so thin, the sauce was simple, and the toppings were delicious!

I came to the Dalles on a business trip for two weeks. On my first night, on the recommendation of a coworker ("It's the only excellent microbrewery around"), I discovered the Double Mountain Brewery. Excellent and varied fresh beer, tasty food, friendly staff, and a great ambiance: I couldn't be happier with this discovery and will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in town. The beers are fantastic: I've had their kölsch, their german lager whose name escapes me at the moment, and their Hop Lava (an IPA in the grand American tradition of overhopping the hell out of everything). Everything is a mite untraditional; the kölsch, for example, is unfiltered and hoppier than what I'm normally used to, but it's still identifiably a kölsch. Their bratwurst, which comes from a local sausage company, is smoked and served with a deli mustard that's a little sharper and coarser than you'd get in Germany. But it's a damn fine bratwurst; the only way they could improve it is by putting it into a semmel instead of an italian roll and maybe serving it a little cooler (it was still extremely hot at the end). After my meal I picked up a few growlers of beer, which my coworkers will no doubt enjoy. I most definitely am, and I'm looking forward to an excuse to go there again. Really, the only complaint that I have about this place is that it's a 20 minute drive from the Dalles instead of right next door to my lodging so I could stumble home every night.
(5)Bob G.
The brewers at Double Mountain are definitely competent in their craft. I had their beer several places around Hood River, including the Taproom and there wasn't anything that I didn't like. My favorite was a Belgian style beer that they served in a goblet (just wish I could remember the name of it). The pizza at the taproom is good, not great. It was billed as NY style pizza, but it seemed stuck in between the greasy, floppy slices I expected and the somewhat typical gourmet/artisan pizza you can find in a lot of places in the Portland area. It was tasty, but nothing that I would go out of my way for.
(4)jack q.
Great brews; delicious thin crust pizzas and sandwiches; excellent, friendly servers; very relaxing atmosphere. Can't miss!
(5)J. B.
The food was yummy, the beer was great, the service and friendliness of the staff (and owners) was out of this world! Even our under-10 kids were treated nicely (not always a given in a pub). We will always make time to swing by and visit Double Mountain every time we go through Hood River. I can't wait to go back and try a few more new beers. IRA has been my favorite so far, but I haven't had one yet that I didn't enjoy.
(5)Hillary M.
Found it during our Presidents Day weekend trip to Hood River thanks to Yelp reviews. Off the 'main' street of Oak, it is so worth it! Menu is small - mostly pizza (which was good) but you really come for the beer. Amazing small batches crafted with love and humor. In a town overflowing with brew pubs, this one wins for best 'local secret' vibe.
(4)True O.
ira = best red ale in the nw awesome pizza, beer and good company. decent menu for both t rexes and flat teeth leaf eaters there's almost always a wait to get in here, but it's worth it
(5)Andrew D.
Loved this place. Great beer (had the vaporizer and kolsch). We were gonna get pizza but were too into the band and forgot, don't worry I'll be back.
(5)Susan H.
Not only is there a time that's NOT good to go to Double Mountain - this place is worth planning a trip around. It's Hood River - the service can be less than stellar, but...when the beer is this good and the food is that good, service is a little less important. Double Mountain must be a gold mine in Hood River. I can only imagine what it would be like if it were in Portland.
(5)Adam M.
Double mountain brewery is an awesome find. Found this place through yelp and man you guys got it right. The beers are fantastic but more surprising was the food. Granted the menu selection is sparse, but what they do serve is fantastic. The pastrami sandwich was juicy and the meatball sub was one of the best ever sampled. The pizza was superb and an all around great meal. The prices are slightly high but for quality products you must pay a premium. Keep up the good work guys.
(5)Katie H.
I would drive all the way from Portland just to have a glass of their Devil's Kriek (Belgian style ale with local cherries). It is that yummy.
(5)Robert G.
Best beer ever!
(5)M M.
great beer, their Nut brown was out of this world! The service leaves A LOT to be desired. Really don't like that you have to go to the bar to get your drink and bring it back to the table.
(3)stephen c.
I have high standards for breweries. With so many to choose from in PDX, the food and the brew needs to be on point. DMB is does not disappoint. The 'Vaporizer' is my new favorite IPA. Nice mix of pilsner color and taste, but still has the flavor of a nice, neat IPA. The pizza at this joint is no slouch either. Perfect 'charred' crust. . Reminds me of Al Forno on Alberta. Quality ingredients. Again, I have high standards for my pizza as well and this measured up just fine. Service was friendly and quick. Definitely a must if you're in HR.
(5)Sammy S.
Got to love it. Their regular taps are fabulous, but the best way to find the small batch stuff is at the brewery. The Kreik is fabulous if you like that style. And the pizza is fantastic.
(5)Kellee K.
We drove to hood river and had lunch at Double Mountain Brewery. It was suggested by our car rental agent. It's a super cute town loaded with wineries and breweries. The Margherita pizza was good, but frankly not all that special. We enjoyed a Cluster Fuck IPA and Sacre Bleu with our lunch.
(3)J M.
This is a local small feel brewery with great pizza and merchandise. First of all, I don't drink beer, but my husband is a huge fan of IPA's. He'd rate the Gypsy Stumper a 4. As for the pizza, it was the best of show. It has a thin crust, comes out super hot, and is delicious. This brewery sells quite a bit of merchandise (everything from growlers to bike jerseys, cool graphic t's, and socks). As for the rest of the menu...it's just OK, nothing spectacular! I was hoping for it to be a bit more creative (I mean do restaurants still used bagged croutons?). If you are in Hood River and need a beer and a great pizza, then this is the place to stop. As for the service, all of our servers were friendly.
(4)Zach E.
Their homemade root beer is awesome. That's actually all I've had here. Weird. Oh, I did have some fancy dark beer that I can't remember the name of. I didn't really like it. But I like Rolling Rock, so there ya go. The building is cool. The service was good all the times I've been there. Here's the thing though, Double Mountain: I won't wait an hour for you. It's now or never. I WILL walk around the corner to the food carts. I don't need you.
(4)David M.
The pizza is excellent and the beer selection is good. As others have commented on, their service could use some work.
(3)Cristo P.
This place is packed with a lot of happy people for dinner. Even after a hot day there is a nice atmosphere inside and out. We got seated inside and I promptly ordered the Imperial Stout beer. It is deliciously thick with dark chocolate and espresso flavors. For dinner my wife and I shared a Margherita pizza. Nice thin crust with the perfect balance of sauce, cheese and basil. My second beer was the Black Irish nitro-stout. I should have order this one first since it is not as strong as the Imperial. Still another good beer with a thick head of foam. Service was prompt and attentive. Define fly a place to re-visit with friends.
(5)Shadan A.
Our favorite restaurant in Hood River! It's typically our first stop when coming through Hood River. We know pizza and this is some of the best you'll ever get on the West Coast!
(5)Stephanie A.
5 stars for the beer, particularly if you like IPA's. If you like the lighter stuff, pilsners/lagers/hefe's this might not be the best watering hole for you. 5 stars for the PIZZA! The pizza is delicious here, my boyfriend and I still debate who really ate half the pizza on our second date to this spot. Our favorites are the fennel mushroom sausage and the jersey shore. 4 stars for the atmosphere, they've remodeled in the past year and expanded into the other half of the building offering far more space for groups, an area for live bands. This new space offers far more light and a warm breeze when the roll up doors open.If you get stuck in the older section of the restaurant it usually feels cramped, stuffy and dark. 3 stars for the service, it's always a hit or miss. I have the best luck when I simply sit at the bar and avoid the somewhat stuck up, semi-clueless hostesses that try to keep things on track. Double mountain is always on the itinerary when visiting Hood River and you should find time to put it on yours.
(4)Kristen M.
After waiting for over an hour while there were open tables across the restaurant, we were seated to find that there was no gluten free menu and the servers aren't willing to do anything about making sure your food will be gluten free. "I can check..." And "there's another place down the street" aren't what customers with celiac disease want to hear. Ignorance isn't always bliss. I would not recommend this place.
(1)Sootan B.
Just visited Double Mountain and had a sublime experience due in large part to our server, Phineas. The food was good - my party ordered two pizzas and one sandwich, all delish, as was the beer. While placing our drink orders I mentioned to my wife that I was having difficulty getting my right leg comfortable due to a persistent knee issue. While not intended, Phineas overheard and immediately took it upon himself to offer me an ice bag. That was an amazing gesture and matches or tops any service I've ever had. Anywhere. Anytime. So between that, the good brew, and the tasty food, five stars. And a heartfelt "thank you" to Phineas.
(5)Chris D.
This was a great stop on our way to Tri Cities Washington for my wife and I. We got the Sausage, Onion & Mushroom pie and it was perfect. Cooked in a brick-oven. Service was great and the atmosphere was very friendly and inviting. I'll definitely have this place as our normal pit stop when we travel to Washington.
(5)Mike W.
Every time we spend the day in the Gorge we tend to come to Double Mountain for at least a beer. For me, the beer of choice is the IRA. It is the perfect blend of hops and malt and extremely refreshing after a short hike at Wahclella falls. For lunch we decided on the specialty pizza. While the name of this heavenly creation escapes me, this savory white sauced pie has been pleasantly resonating in the back of my mind since the first bite. White sauce, pancetta, arugula, whole- milk mozzarella cooked on uber thin crust at 700 degrees. It was perfect.
(5)Jim D.
I normally stop at Full Sail when passing through Hood River. They've got a great beer selection and their menu is excellent. Add that to the view of the Gorge and it's a great place to stop. If you haven't been there, I would recommend going there first for the experience. That said, I believe Double Mountain has better beer. I am mainly speaking of their selection of IPAs. Hop Lava and Pale Death were excellent... But if I had to choose I would go with Pale Death. If I was writing them on establishment alone I would go with three stars, but their beer gives them an additional star. Finally, their menu was solid. I had the meatball sandwich and it was delicious. Again, Full Sail has more options and I have never been anything but thoroughly impressed by their food.
(4)Ginger S.
Oh wow! So many great beers! We were carefully attended to which is always so nice, especially after a long day of traveling.
(4)Stephanie S.
Yum! This place had excellent food. I had a personal pizza. I had the truffle shuffle. The pizza had truffle portabella mushrooms and onions on it. It was very delicious. The crust on the pizza was perfect and not too thick. The size of the personal size was also huge! Because the crust was thin, it is definitely possible to eat the whole thing :). The beer here was also really good. I had the green neck lager which was a very tasty summer beer. I also sampled the peach beer which was excellent. I would definitely recommend a stop by here!
(5)Kristin J.
I love Pizza. There I said it. I am always seeking out the best pizza joints in every city I visit. A good slice of pizza can make the world right again and Double Mountain has a pizza that definitely makes my world right! The margherita pizza at Double Mountain is amazeballs. They top it with basil once it comes out of the oven and its fabulous. Their pizzas are on the thinner side, so it you're a deep dish kind of person, I'm not sure this is the pizza heaven you may be dreaming about. Though you can always stop in for the beer and wine!
(4)Aaron H.
I travel the country for work and this place by far was one of the better places I've eaten and drink beer at The atmosphere is great the service was excellent The food was excellent I would definitely come back when I come back to this area anyone that had a bad time here doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground
(5)Anthony C.
I stopped in after a disappointing day (of missing a rafting trip) hoping this place that was highly reviewed and recommended by people along our way to Hood River that it would boost our morale. I had a great sour beer and my girlfriend had their house made Root Beer. The top ranked pizza here is their truffle pizza. Well, I had to wait about an hour and ten minutes for it. I asked about it maybe 40 minutes in -- with which the server said he just saw it pop into the oven. Okay.... Kept waiting, Kept waiting. Finally the server apologizes about an hour in and says something happened to our pizza. He did comp our drinks though, so I appreciate the apology. However, I wished there was more transparency when I checked on my food 40 minutes-- instead of telling me that it's about to come out. The pizza was whatever though, drizzled in a heavy amount of truffle oil. Nothing really special, and it's something you can find almost everywhere in California. Does that make this a california style pizza?
(2)Benjamin K.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Those are the things you will say after you enjoy yourself here. Excellent New York style pizza that is legit.... Trust me on that one. Killer beer that rates in the top echelons of Oregon craft beer.... Unbelievable and perfectly balanced India Red Ale.... Love the dry hopped Vaporizer Pale..... I'm certain others are delicious! Great service.... Couldn't say a bad thing about Double Mountain! Enjoy and don't miss this place. Family friendly too!
(5)Bob R.
This is a review by a vegetarian 4.5 stars You know what I like? pizza. They make pizza here. It's a little bit too charred at the very end but otherwise it's great. Weekday's till 3pm they'll make a personal size but otherwise it's all 16". High ceilings indoors and smattering of tables out on the sidewalk (in the shade in the afternoon and early evening) Street parking is metered and there's a good sized metered lot just west, across the street from full sail. A DC complains that there's no sweet'n'low for iced tea. Another DC tries to make a sympathetic face while guzzling a house-made beer before completely swallowing a mouthful of sausage, onion, and mushroom pie. Some nights, 9ish, there's live music.
(4)Jan D.
Great pizza, location, and beer! There is a wait even at 4:30pm!! I had the sausage and onion pizza (added pepperoni) and it was deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelish! A little burnt, but what do you expect when they are making soo many pizzas at a time in a stone oven. Whatever it is, I really enjoyed this place. Also another plus is that they are super dog friendly.

This boss was thirsty after crushing the Gorge surfing all day. Double mountain was boss. The only question is, what is better: Chaos Reigns with a side of Clusterf#ck? Or Clusterf#ck with a side of Chaos Reigns? See pics to make the final decision. If you want to be a boss, you have to make the hard decisions. Make them at double mountain.

This place has great beer and amazing pizza! We stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon and were blown away! We ordered a set of sampler beers - $2 each, you pick up to 5 at a time. I'm not one to recommend beers because I know different people like different things, but the IRA (India red ale), Pale Death (a Belgian imperial IPA) and Chaos Reigns (an imperial stout) were standouts for me. We were so impressed with the beer from the first sampler we decided to try another 5 samples and order a pizza called the Jersey Pie. The pizza was mouthwatering! It was a brick oven pizza and perfectly charred, topped with capicola, provolone and peppers. We sat at a high top table in the bar and had excellent service from the friendly bartenders. It was a great experience and next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely be back here!

Was rather packed today because of Valentine's Day plus a brewery tour special. The tasting was really good and really in-expensive. We tried the Hummus plate and sandwiches but I seen the pizza and damn it looks good. Colorful crowd of folks make for a fun atmosphere. Great service staff too by the way.

A Hood River gem. We sat outside, but inside is a great local atmosphere. One of the best root beers I've ever had. The menu was very diverse and favors local produce. The wood fired pizza was recommended and did not disappoint. It was amazing! Love this place and worth a visit.

Our cousins said it's the best pizza in the world! It was pretty darn good, and while i couldn't think of any place better, i still find it hard to admit any place could be THE absolute best when it comes to such a popular food item. Everyone enjoyed their beers as well. My only complaint was the wait. It was pretty ridic.
(4)Cheeki G.
First, our waitress (blonde with arrow tattoos) had a herpes breakout on her lower lip which was unappeasing at a restaurant. Then after waiting over forever for a pizza and meatball sub, we noticed the two couples that ordered after us already received their pizzas and finished it, we asked the busgirl to check our order and the waitress came over and said, "I was told you were concerned about your order. They are plating it up right now and I'll have it to you in a minute." Over 6 minutes later we saw our waitress serving food to another table. A 48 minute wait is unacceptable and so is lying to your customers...We got up and left and went to the New York sub place around the corner. Delicious meatball sub and received in 5 minutes.
(2)Derek S.
Awesome taproom with delicious pizza to pair with their beers. The truffle shuffle, Margherita and Sausage/onion/mushroom were all really tasty. The crust was perfectly crispy where it counted but fresh and perfectly baked center. We got lucky and had no wait and sat down immediately. Solid pizza and a vaporizer beer was perfect for dinner on a hot night.

Food was nice and environment pleasurable. The trees outside are not welcome for dogs. If you have a dog and don't get a seat outside -- or don't want to sit outside or have a larger party, and cannot be served outside.... You have no choice as to where to put your dog. The blonde waitress with the arrow tattoos was beyond rude and inconsiderate when she approached our table and interrupted our meal - making us believe there was a serious medical issue outside with our dog. (Our dog that we were checking in with every 10 mins)... Only to walk out and find him happy and enjoying the day. Turns out there was an upset pedestrian who wanted to make sure he was accounted for. Understandable. The waitress was rude, interruptive, unhelpful and without problem solving skills. One of us had to leave the establishment mid meal and beverage because they had no solution for us, and the solutions we came up with, she was unresponsive to and walked away. We will never go back. Any place that makes their customers leave and not return because of a third party complaint, does not deserve my business.

Beer is the best in town a little pricy but well worth it. The food is great especially the pizza. The atmosphere can't be beat the have events going on all the time and it is usually busy but service is always great. Definitely a favorite of mine and most of the locals as well as tourist a must try!!
(5)Dan R.
Have been wanting to go here for a while, already familiar with their beers, and was not disappointed. Heard from others they get busy but 2pm on Wednesday was plenty of space. Here for the pizzas--thin, crisp but not hard, the slightest char, quality toppings. Several good beers consumed at the table. My favorite the Chaos reigns imperial stout--zam! Add in super service from beautiful people and what could be better.
(5)Michael M.
Another home run in Hood River. Beer selection -- excellent. Friendly People - check. Food - fresh and delicious. This is our stop every time from our drive to Portland. I had one of their pizza -- cook perfectly. Open and airy - music on the weekends. Love this place.
(5)Rob L.
Fun beer selection and that gets five stars. The pizza, salads and other food gets three stars... The pizza is very cheesy with some weird cheeses when at least the margarita should have real mozzarella on top. It's ok after enough beer! The root beer that they brew is a new recipe and I am sorry to say should be revised yet again. It's got a very odd licorice finish. Steelhead and Rogues still far better. The service is the big star drag. Our waitress and most of the other waitstaff seemed indifferent, at best. The night we were there, to us they seemed far more interested in flirting with the bar staff than bringing us our food or drinks. Took way too long to bring us our beers after we already had flights. Did enjoy the Dead music revue!!! Nicely air conditioned for a hot afternoon and fun atmosphere (if it wasn't for that, it would have been 3 stars).

You just climbed Beacon Rock. Or you went for a ridiculously long drive in the Gorge. And now certain members of your party are about to eat their hands off. Or murder someone. Or cry. It's time for beer. Food. More beer. It's time for Double Mountain. Double Mountain is located conveniently close to I-84. Yeah, you'll probably have to pay to park, but it's worth it. Last time we went to Double Mountain, we had the pizza, and it has solidly rocked. This time it more than rocked. It ROCKED. And that was because it featured truffles. You need this pizza. It's called the Truffle Shuffle, and it's a white pie with mozzarella, crumbled goat cheese, and white-truffle-oil-marinated portabella mushrooms. Yummmmmm. We also had a very nice mezze platter. And beer. Lots of beer. This time it was the Clusterf#ck, a single-hop beer that was worth drinking over and over, and memorializing with a glow-in-the-dark Clusterf#ck, T-shirt. You need to get one of those, too.
(5)Diatreme X.
Heard about this place from a friend. Don't mistake the brew pub across the street. The beer here is excellent. The food good. The atmosphere is fantastic. Great place.
(4)Rachelle B.
Awesome beer and pizza! Great concerts in a small venue. Acceptable prices! Love the truffle shuffle and the brew. Devils Kriek is off the hook and so is the stout.
(5)T Y.
First of all, sorry Benjamin from Medford: Double Mountain serves NEW HAVEN style pizza (not "New York style")... So...Great New Haven style pizza and super yummy bears! It doesn't matter if you are a hop-head or like a chewy malt, Double Mountain has your beer. Great bartenders like Phil will help you pick the beer of your dreams......Only wish is lived closer..Sigh....I am close to New Haven...I will get my pizza on, but I will have to wait until I visit family on the West coast to get my Vaporizer on!
(5)Jessica M.
Wasn't that impressed! The hostess said put wait time would be 30 min. But we waited one hour. We asked to be put down as a party of 4 because we were carrying are newborn and they still put us down as a party of 5 which I think contributed to our long wait. Now for the food... We ordered as soon as we sat down because we had a feeling it was going to take forever. We ordered the pepperoni pizza and added sausage, the meatball sub, Caesar salad, chips n guacamole, and a beer sampler. Thank goodness are chips and guacamole came out quick. The salsa and guac is very good! Then we waited an hour for our pizza. We had to remind our waitress we had a meatball sub and salad. The sub was nasty it had been sitting under the warmer for so long the bread was hard as a rock on top and soggy on the bottom. We had to wait an additional 10 min because she said she forgot the salad. We never complained and told the waitress are food was great because that's just how we are. I think she felt bad because when she brought us our check she gave us half off on the salad and gave us the chips and guac for free. Unfortunately we won't be coming back. Andrews pizza down the road is way better!!
(1)Mike M.
Nice place with a warm vibe. Had to visit the birthplace of the best brew in Oregon, Double Mountain Killer Green. We shared a great pepperoni pizza and chips with guacamole. The food came out fast and hot. The pizza was a bubbling, crispy delight. The guacamole was astonishingly well seasoned and skillfully prepared for a bunch of gabachos. They must have a Mexican hidden in the back whipping up the guac, seriously. I had a great sampling of 5 different brews and the wife had a cider. All that was barely over $20! Service was friendly and knowledgeable without being snobby or pushy. Excellent experience all around. Could go without the annoying hipsters talking loudly about the nonsense they tweeted while backpacking in some other country where they own their own business, et cetera ad nauseum. But a certain degree of this is expected anywhere in Oregon where there is beer and live music. Would definitely return and endure anything for that amazing KG. Killer Green is the nectar of the gods. If you don't know, now ya know!
(5)Susan A.
Excellent pizza, tasty brews and friendly service. What more can you ask for? Will definitely return! Thank you, double mountain.
(5)Rob V.
I have been to the last 5 anniversary parties but I'm done. Overpriced and under quality. It feels less like a celebration and more like a money screw job. I'm out. Done.

First, a confession: in the religious wars between thin- and thick-crust pizza, or between American and Italian pizza, our family has yet to pick a side. Our sole criteria: do we enjoy it? and do our kids eat it? In this case, the answer was yes and yes. We loved the crust, which managed to be both thin and crispy. Toppings were good but not life-changing. Caesar salad was fine but utterly ordinary. Service was friendly and fast, though there was a bit of a wait for a table. Happily, they have an EXCELLENT system for that wait-- they take your cell phone number and text you when your table is ready. Why doesn't everybody do that? Someplace we'd happily go to again if we were in Hood River and craving pizza, but nothing we'd go out of our way to repeat.
(3)Kimberly H.
Really impressive pizza and beer offerings. Based on that alone this would be a 4 star restaurant. It's so hip, it's cool. If you can hear the big uh-hem in my tone. On weekend evenings you should anticipate a 1 hour wait for seats and an additional 1 hour for pizza. Yeah, that's a total of 2 hour wait for your food. That is not necessarily bad, just plan for it. First time there we just went to the bar, and had almost no interaction with servers. Second time, we were told 2 hour wait. Pass. Third time great pizza and well, let's just say we experienced great pizza and a fantastic service recovery by the bar manager. Will we return? We will try again in winter and will update review at that time. Best of luck!
(3)Sam I.
Loved this place! Such a great vibe and excellent food and beer. Definitely try the pizza, it is wood fired and fantastic! We came back a second time during our stay we liked it so much- highly recommended.
(5)Megan D.
Totally rude hostess and staff. Showed up at 6 pm, willing to wait. We were in town for a friends birthday. When we asked to make a reservation, they literally just said "no." When we asked the cold, off-putting hostess, why? She said, hopFesf. When we said, "What do you mean?" She responded again, "Hopfest." Being sober, and confused, we asked someone else. The waiter told us, on HopFest night "we are closing at 8 because we deal with too many drunk people." Working in the service industry, I know my boss would be very upset if we closed on the biggest sales day of the year because the workers are just too impatient to deal with drunk people. Also, I know you could turn the drunk people away and allow the sober people to get a meal at a brewery they, previously, were excited to finally see. Very upset that a brewery I have esteemed for years feels so big-headed. Went to Full Sail! Nice servers that were NOT annoyed with customers for being customers.

I had a fairly negative experience at Double Mountain Brewery but take my review with a grain of salt because my experience as a solo diner may not be the same as yours. Let me provide some background for my visit to the brewery. When I first moved to the PNW, I took a solo trip to Mt. Hood and the Hood River Valley. After a day of hiking, I was looking for a spot for dinner and found Double Mountain on Yelp (where else!?). As a party of 1, I couldn't even find a seat at the bar and there wasn't anywhere to wait. After a fairly extensive wait (they will text you when a table/seat is ready, which is appreciated) I was seated at the bar. I was very much looking forward to a delicious craft brew and pizza. I had the Hop Lava IPA which was fine, nothing mind blowing. When it came to order food, I asked if they would make me a smaller pizza since I couldn't finish a 16" for a pizza solo (nor did I want to pay $16 for a cheese pizza!). The bartender said that they weren't willing to accommodate my request. I left and found somewhere else to eat. I very much appreciate good customer service. I understand that Double Mountain Brewery does not need my business because they are extremely popular and will always have customers but at the same time, this experience was insulting. I plan to return to the Hood River Valley next fall but I will certainly dine at an establishment that appreciates my business.
(2)Brian A.
Great beer and pizza and service...highly recommend.
(5)Sea S.
We stopped by there today after a nice day spent at 1000 acre dog park. I've had their beers before so I decided to make the drive out there and have some pizza and beer my wife ordered the black Irish and I went for the vaporizer. The beer is awesome here some of my favorite. The pizza was really tasty with the perfect crust. Our server was very friendly and even came out with treats for our dog ( we sat outside ) over all we really had a great time and we will definitely be back!
(4)Todd B.
Rudest employees of all time. Waiter literally knocked me into the wall getting out the door to get an order outside and when I finally asked the hostess for a menu, she said, "hold on" and left. Came back, asked again and she tossed it at me to the floor. I LEFT!

Double Mountain Brewery is apparently hitting their busy season from the tourists in the area. Lucky me for stopping by at this time when the place was FULL! But, lucky me for the bar having availability (the bar itself seats maybe 9 people or so!). Sat down, ordered the only beer I thought I'd enjoy (cider), didn't enjoy it right away but eventually the taste doesn't seem to matter. Eventually. The pizza is what we came most for. I believe they only offer one size - and we went with something not on the menu: Pepperoni and mushroom. Daring, I know! 25 minutes later, we were folding the slices and enjoying it like it was our last meal. But fortunately, it wasn't. Not because this pizza was bad, but because my last meal would probably be a bacon cheeseburger. That said, the pizza wasn't phenomenal. This is a brewery, not a pizza parlor. But at 20 bucks a pie... wowzer. Shouldn't the money be made off of the beer?! Anyway... fun atmosphere, and I'd stop by here again if I were in the area. So, that deserves 4 stars!
(4)Mattie M.
We love coming to double mt in hood river! Beer is delicious and it's seriously the best pizza around! There can most definitely be a wait but the food and drinks are worth it! Great atmosphere and feels way more chill and local than its neighbor full sail. We are pizza aholics and that's what we get every time but the other food looks great too!
(5)Jeffrey J. H.
Right in the shadow of one of the biggest in Oregon, the Double Mountain brewery shines beyond it's size. This is a gem that I want around the corner from me! Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try their food, but it looked and smelled delicious. Their Beer we did try. It was excellent. Well balanced and tasted the way it should! None of that one flavor in different colors and strengths stuff here! No sir! The Red Ale tasted smooth and round with plenty of flavor. The IPAs (they had a couple) tasted like IPAs and were different from each other nonetheless. The Belgian beers were true to form! Flanders Red Sour Ale! But the Blonde had it's own loveliness. What's that? Why yes, they make an Irish Dry Stout as well, served on Nitro and done right too. They are using local hops in some beers, but are not afraid to import to get the right taste. Tour the big building across the street, but come drink here!
(5)Dave W.
Place is busy all the time which is a good sign. Lots of locals. Beers were good. Service okay. Could be a better seating situation.
(3)Lyndsay B.
Fabulous! Came here on our first night in Hood River and would certainly go back if we're ever in town again. We had the Hop Lava and India Red Ales which were both deliciously well-balanced, and the truffle-shuffle pizza, which seems pricey at $22 but is totally worth it; no canned ingredients here! We were in the bar area which could probably benefit from some high top tables, but it was also a rainy night so extra seating outside wasn't really an option. If you're looking for a casual friendly place in Hood River, this is where I would definitely go!
(5)Ariel M.
Went here today for a Mother's Day lunch. Very nice and friendly atmosphere, love this town. But the hostess seemed kind of bored and too busy to seat the people waiting outside to the 4 empty and clean tables inside, more staff seemed to be needed. Really liked the root beer, it's brewed at the place as well. My family ordered chips and salsa for an appetizer and sadly it came about 5 mins before our meal, which took awhile to get out. I enjoyed my pizza, but I felt bat for my mother because she was the one who had to wait an extra 15 mins for her meal while my sister, dad and I all already had ours! Altogether it's a nice place, but not as great as I was hoping.
(3)Jon G.
We were on the hunt for good pizza and we definitely found it here at Double Mountain Brewery! We ordered the jersey pie and for beers my girlfriend ordered a Devils Kriek and I ordered the Saucy Gnome. To top it all off, our server Mark P was great! He started us off with some delicious juanitas (we love local and cant eat enough of these when in Portland) and salsa and the housemade guac. I LOVED the guac! We will be back! Great atmosphere, nice people, great food and beer, what more could you ask for on a freezing night in the Gorge!?!?!
(5)Patrick L.
Some of the best beer in Oregon. Pizza was great. Service was great. Must stop here again on the way to Portland
(5)Sam O.
Delicious! Pizza was great! and the beer was fantastic! My only gripe was that I couldn't get a growler of their Devil's Kreik (sp?) to go, but that is not their fault, too high alcohol. Very good place! Also, we got there around 4ish on a Saturday, and it was already filling up, so I'm sure the warnings about being busy are true.
(5)Mike A.
If I'm going anywhere near Hood River I stop here. The beers are, for me, the gold standard of the Northwest Style. Generously hopped IRA (Irish Red Ale) and Hop Lava are balanced and quaffable. The Terrible Two is a real mouthful, lots of rich bourbon aroma and vanilla. And the kriek, made with local cherries, is tart and refreshing with a nice whiff of wild yeast funk. The pizza is the best in maybe the whole state. Maybe better than anything in Washington too, even Seattle. The crust is thin and the toppings top notch. They aren't afraid to really cook it either. So many of these little hipster pizza cooks around here are in such a hurry to pull your pasty raw pizza out of the oven before it even gets toasty. Presumably so they can go on a smoke break. Not so at Double Mountain, here they serve the pizza a little burnt, just like in Italy. The "Jersey Pie" features hot Capicolla and marinated peppers and is addictively spicy and tangy, if my wife weren't always with me, I'd eat the whole thing myself.
(5)Candice R.
For fans of great beer, this is as good as it gets. The service can be spotty, and, although I am a local, I'm not buddies with any of the bartenders. There is definitely an "in crowd" and then all the rest of us... but any bitterness about that feeling is washed away with an imperial pint of the best beer in the gorge. I haven't had a bad beer here, but some of my favs are Hop Lava and the IRA. The pizza is also the best around, which means quite good, not amazing...but they know what they're doing, and doing it consistently well. I appreciate the focus of the menu. A little bit difficult and crowded with kids, especially if they don't have the back room open, but the beer makes any hassel worthwhile.
(4)The Emperor O.
Not only do they brew great beer but they care about their patrons. I left my keys there and ended up going back to Portland that night. Not only did they look for em but they found them and mailed em back to me, with bumper stickers. This Brewery is a class act all the way. There is a reason why its busy all the time: its thee place to go in Hood River for an honest beer. Best of everything to you guys at Double Mountain! You made a life long patron.
(5)Michele N.
New favorite beer & lunch spot in Hood River!
(4)Jodi B.
Excellent service and attention to detail as the crew handled more people that tables. The beer is the best and their pizza crust just perfect! Loved it!! Will go again soon!!
(5)Kimberly P.
Driving through the Gorge my friends and I were looking for a place to stop for dinner. One friend suggested Double Mountain Brewery since he really enjoyed their beers. Breweries can be a tricky thing when looking for gluten-free fare. Before my friend even uttered the words 'You could just a get a salad...' I shot that down immediately. Salads have their place and time but hardly satisfy my hungers. Usually I can just get a burger and have them serve it on some lettuce rather than the bun. I agreed to come here with that choice in mind. We were sat immediately but there was definitely a crowd there. Didn't have issues of slow service like I have read on here, everything was timed well for my group. When I first read the menu I thought I was going to cry. It's pretty simple in choices....broken up into sandwiches, pizza and salads. Maybe I was going to end up having to get a salad after all, I thought to myself. Even then, it was three types of salads - Greek, Caesar (which the dressing can be questionable for people who are GF), and then a spinach salad. Nothing that really sang to me. Our server took our drink orders; I chose a syrah from Naked Winery that helped me to calm down a bit and rethink my food strategy. Light bulb went on. When the server came back for our food order, I asked if it would be possible to order a sandwich and just have that on lettuce. He said it would be no problem at all. I ended up getting the Turkey Cheddar Bacon sandwich, which was served up with some potato chips and a dill pickle spear. I was actually very pleased with how they prepared my sandwich. It wasn't wrapped up in a mess of iceberg lettuce as I have seen at other joints. They actually used some sturdy leaves that held together as I devoured it. In the end I was quite happy, but rating four stars due to the limited choices available on the menu but they are at least willing to accommodate special requests.
(4)Dave B.
Went for a drive outside Portland with Chris and his gf, and on his recommendation we ate at this great bar/restaurant. Really nice place, great service and nice crowd. We tried a "sampler" of some of their great beers and were duly impressed. I had the BLTA (BLT with avocado) and Kevin had the Turkey Sandwich. Both were huge, fresh and tasted great. A nice place to stop for a sandwich and a beer while exploring the waterfalls and country outside Portland.
(5)Anne-Marie S.
Wood Fired Pizza @ 700 degrees, very good. The Killer Green IPA was a great compliment to the pie. service was great and the atmosphere is so Northwest.... I loved it . Thank you Hood River :)
(5)Michael H.
Really enjoyed this restaurant. It seemed everything here was made fresh. Loved the peche beer made from sour beer and peaches. Croutons on caesar salad house made, as was the dressing. Romaine was unusual, maybe local grown organic? BLT on rye very good and unusual. Close to 5 stars.
(4)Angela H.
BEST PLACE ON THE PLANET. Pizza is incredible and the beer is *perfect*. This is THE place end a weekend of camping and fishing.
(5)Sue B.
This place was hopping for a Weds. Night! We too had the sausage, onion and mushroom pizza! Great pizza and beer! Friendly service, and we were surprised at the number of families there. Perfect, after an afternoon of hiking near Mt. Hood.
(4)Katie C.
Great place to have lunch if you are wandering around Hood River. We could have gone to Full Sail, but we wanted to support a smaller brewery and it was worth it. The beer tended toward the hoppier side which I dislike so the drink selection wasn't a huge hit with me. But their pizza was! I'm originally from NY so anywhere that I can find a nice crispy crust is a big hit. My boyfriend and I had their Truffle Shuffle pizza and it was so amazing and rich. Great flavor combinations! The service was wonderful. Our waitress offered to bring us free samples of whatever drinks we wanted to try so that we could pick out the perfect one and she was so knowledgeable about the tap options.
(4)Thilo W.
I loved this place. Even though the staff were obviously harried by the over packed house, they were all friendly and did their level best to take care of people expeditiously. The beer is off the chain. I am mostly a wine drinker so I appreciate a beer with some flavor -- Double Mountain does not disappoint! I had a great dry-hopped pale ale and a sour peach-infused beer (Peche Mode). Both were superb. The pizza I saw (but unfortunately did not try) looked and smelled great. We, regrettably, only had time for chips and salsa with guacamole -- these were very good. I liked the mixed local/ski bum/cycling crowd in this place and had a great time. I would buy the hell out of their beer if they bottled it, and next time will definitely leave with a growler or 2.
(5)Matthew E.
Best beer and pizza in town. I wish they would make the pulled pork pie a permanent fixture on the menu, though.
(5)Drew T.
Stopped here while in Hood River - great beer and the food was top notch - had a pizza and chips with guacamole - everything was great. Beer is worth the drive and sample as many as you can - staff was friendly and very attentive - would make the trip out if I was within a couple of hours again.
(5)Rosi G.
Black Famine! Probably one of the best dark beers of my life. Yum. So delicious. I ordered a Kolsch and my husband ordered the Black Famine that I promptly stole from him after tasting it. Nice vibe, good service, and I like that they text you when your table is ready. Would love to go back for a flight and one of their cute sweatshirts.
(5)Ameer N.
The pizza looked and smelled so good, regardless of the fact that I walked in one notch past super duper full. The belgian style beer was delicious.
(5)Kristen F.
I love Double Mountain's beer! Soooo gooood... It's even better after a long hike in the gorge, which I think is what everyone in the brewery had just done judging by the apparel. Double Mountain brews tons of different beers so there's lots to try. 4 stars because although the food was delicious, it was really expensive and not much selection. Also, we went on a sunny Saturday afternoon and it was packed. Fortunately, they're working on expanding the place so there will be more seating soon. Definitely stop by here if you're in the gorge.
(4)Jan C.
The best combination of beer, pizza and ambience. The iRA was really good. And the margarita pizza was the best I have had since New York! Very thin, cheesy, lots of fresh basil. A very nice lunch size for two people. They have a brewery tour on Saturdays at 1 pm. Extremely nice waitstaff.
(5)Allison Y.
We headed to Double Mountain Brewery to kick off our friends wedding festivities. There was a large group of us, approximately 20+ people. We made reservations, however when we got there, clearly they were not prepared for us. They cleared some room and we eventually had a table but as soon as the music started our table area became the dance floor. Looked like they had some construction going on, so maybe when that clears the space won't be such an issue. The beer and the pizza however were fantastic! And Double Mountain is the bride and groom's favorite place to stop after boarding on Hood. So, it was probably the amount of people we had that made the experience A-OK.
(3)Rob M.
We had a 30 minute wait just to get beer as the bar was completely full. The hostess was short with us and not especially friendly. When our table was ready the hostess kicked her foot in the direction of our table rather than waking or directing us towards it. After we got seated the service was slow and we felt rushed to leave once they realized we weren't getting any food. The beer was good, but the service was unfriendly and unorganized.
(2)Tom T.
DMB has become our go to place when we make our Portland runs as iHood River is a good distance to break up the drive. Great eats (we get the margherita pizza and split a large caeser salad) and great beer. Tried several and all are tasty. Of course, insert drinking and driving warning here. As primary driver, small serving only. Phil and Tim were great servers with great attitudes. Oh, good choc chip cookies too. Thanks, DMB folks, just love that place!
(5)Chris S.
Good local food and beer. The pizza is great and the beer is good. Get the smaller size beers and try a few. The staff here seemed overwhelmed but even with how busy they were we didn't have to wait.
(4)thomas h.
great small town brewery. The beer was excellent. We didn't eat but the pizza smelled delicious.
(5)Jeff S.
Not sure what else to say, except that this place is fantastic. The beer is great (especially Vaporizer) and their pizza is one of the best I've had. Overall, it's well worth the drive from Portland.
(5)Melissa L.
We stopped in here one Saturday in Sept for a late lunch on our way to buy apples, and we really liked it. The beers were all delicious, and the vibe and view of the pub was great. The only reason I'm dinging them a star is that when I ordered a salad and hubby ordered a sandwich (with a bowl of tasty green castelvetrano olives to nibble), my salad was delivered WAY earlier than his sandwich. I was almost done eating my salad by the time his sando showed up, which was lame and awkward. Service is odd in general, though, because you have to go up to the bar to order everything, yet they bring it to your table. The place is not that big, they really ought to have the bar staff just come take your order.
(4)Lauren A.
The dark cherry beer I had was pretty darn tasty, perhaps the best cherry beer I've ever had. My meatball sub was decent, but the roll was fantastic. I tried a slice of the goat cheese pizza but there wasn't much goat cheese flavor on it, or much other flavor either, for that matter. I think it evens out to 3 stars.

OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place was a pleasant surprize. The food was great and the service responsive. We had the house specialty (a pizza with heirloom tomatoes on top) and it was really, really good. The prices are reasonably and everything tasted fresh. This is a great place to have a meal.

This is a bit overdue but still worth mentioning... Last summer my girlfriend, daughter, and I visited DM for the first time after hiking at Lost Lake. The place was jammed, and we stood and waited for 20 minutes before leaving. I completely understand being busy -- that's a good thing -- but it was as if we were completely invisible. No staff acknowledged our presence or told us how long we would have to wait. At some point in the coming months I will give Double Mountain a chance to redeem themselves. Friends have recommended it, and I know how good their beer is. I hope to provide a much more glowing review at that time.

The service was excellent - the waiter really cared about the beer he was serving and knew a lot about it. The beers were very good and full of flavor - tried their sampler and was impressed with a lot of the beers. IPA's were really good.

Our party decided to stop on our way to the coast. We received great service and really enjoyed our wood fire pizza!

9 locally-brewed beers on tap! When you don't want to deal with the HUGE Full-Sail brewery hubbub down the street, this is the place to be. Tried a sampler of 6 beers (2 are below) & the hummas platter (which was quite good to go with sampling-size beers to cleanse your palate :) Devil's kriek- earthy sourness with a deep appreciation for hoppy flavors without being too overwhelming. Nitro pale - soft and smooth with seedy undertones. The alcohol is completely undetectable. Great for kids to get them started :-P Overall, this is a nice, small, local brewery with a friendly atmosphere & a chance to meet the 2 owners that are usually pouring behind the counter, if you're so inclined to inquire about the brewery's story, how they brew each batch, etc. It's worth checking out!!!!

Great beer. Questionable food. The atmosphere gets a definite five stars. The beer gets four. The food... a two and a half or a three. I am definitely planning on coming back. I've got to find the right combo because in this pub, you plan on having a great time.

We sat down, no service hmm...must be busy? Hmmm....not really....still waiting.....hmmm......still waiting.......oh there she is.....woops....just walked by us.....hmmm.....waiting again.....get eye contact.....hmm:...oh she's dropping off water...whoa...she slaps it down on our table no hello, no menu.....no nothing....hmmm.....rude? YES! We pass her heading out the door going to Full Sail instead....she notices now and says....need something? We Answer, not now and wouldn't ever come back. This place is a joke. Dear owner, train your staff.

Best pizza on the planet. Waiting for a Truffle Shuffle pie.

This brewery has been a long standing favorite amongst my friends and myself. Amazing brew, music, staff, and PIZZA. Have been here several times from Portland, especially for their Friday or Saturday night gigs. The only annoyance of the DMB is it sometimes it can get quite crowded on the weekends, especially during their anniversary parties. Otherwise I plan on returning over and over for great beer, food and music.

As a beer lover and pizza appreciator -- this place just called to me all the way from Portland. Well not really, but if you are visiting Portland and wanting to do a day trip the Mt. Hood and area -- this is a great place to stop for some lunch. I had this cherry lambic that blew my mind in ways lambics tend NOT to do! It was a sour, aged, cherry lambic -- without that Dimatap like cherry flavor -- but REAL cherry flavor. I had a Belgian Brown Ale that was notably finely crafted. I was impressed with this little brewery in the middle of nearly nowhere! The pizza was fantastic. The wait staff were wonderful. And the beer? Ah, if I can still taste the beer then it MUST be good.

Tastiest beer in the gorge. Kids LOVE the root beer. Always happy to make the pizza vegan.

This is a cute little place. The people were very friendly. The beer was good. I had the Abbey Hoffman. I mostly went because I heard such great things about their pizza. I liked it a lot. I had to abide by my standard rule of getting a simple pizza for my first visit, but I definitely want to go back to try their Fire on the Mountain pizza next time. It sounds awesome.

Absolutely awesome pizza! My only complaints: the strange method of ordering pizza (stand in line at the bar) and seating (grab a table if you can). The pizza is worth it.

We got tired of skiing at Meadows and decided to do lunch at Hood River. After some yelping we settled on Double Mountain and it turned out to be a hit. Wife enjoyed the beer, we enjoyed the Greek salad, and everyone enjoyed the piazza and salsa/chips. The thin crust piazza I pretty darn good. Relaxed place with attentive and nice staff. Highly recommend it! Per

Awesome beer and awesome food. My favorite place to drink in Hood River.

My wife and I spent NYE at the Best Western in Hood River and when checking out the front desk recommended Double Mountain to us as a local's favorite for beer and pizza. What a find this place is. The atmosphere is a bit funky and the service is a bit stand offish but the beer and pizza are to die for. One of the best pizzas I have had anywhere in the world! Can't wait to try this place again when we return next summer.

This place is pretty great. The beer is top notch, and we knew that going in. But we figured the food would be so-so, typical brewpub experience. The food was really good though, and service was remarkably fast. Was there early on the Fourth of July - rushed dinner with the toddler and it was a great time.

Small bar and a handful of tables, both inside and out. I've only tried the kolsh. It isn't exact to the European style, but has a flair befitting a Northwestern American Brewery. It's VERY good.

DM must be doing something right. 'Last time I was there, there was one little room, always packed. Now there are two more rooms, the whole place nearly packed in mid-afternoon. But what's the surprise? The beers are and have always been really good. This time, I had a Kolsch, one of those styles that if it's screwed up, there's no heavy malt or hopping to hide it. This one was delicious and a great companion to a surprisingly good pizza, an acolade an ex-Philly girl only rarely conveys. Ok, so there's not oil dripping down your fingers. But the crust was crisp, chewy and pliable...really satisfying. The provolone cheese on my Jersey pie had a nice tang and if it sacrificed that gooey mozza goodness I love best, it wasn't dry, rubbery or grainy either. The capicola and peppers weren't loaded on and I liked that because it kept the crust and cheese identifiable and the whole works balanced. The place describes their crust as "charred" and offers to cut the oven time on request to avoid that. In my view, dough and cornmeal that are burned black just aren't pleasant tasting and I'll ask for an un-charred version next time. As it was, those small areas that were blackened were easy enough to eat around and in the scheme of things, didn't constitute anywhere near a major flaw. I had occasion to try Andrew's Pizza in the same weekend. They advertise themselves as producing the best pizza in Hood River for 20 years running. To be, um, succinct...no effing way. I also had occasion to (again) try the beers from Big Horse Brewing in town. Do they measure up against DM? Again, no effing way.

I've never had the pizza but the beer is great. Double Mountain is my personal favorite brewery in Hood River. They have a ton of beers on tap and if you don't know what you want, ask for help! You can always sample something before you get a pint. Music on the weekend is good and fairly chill.

Beer was delicious but I thought the pizza was a little pricey for what came out. 4 of us tried to split their "truffle-shuffle" pizza and all of us thought the toppings were a little sparse for a $20 pizza. We ended up chalking it up as an appetizer and heading else where for dinner instead of staying and ordering another.

Awesome little place. Feels like a coffee shop mixed with a brewery. Had a few beers and the sausage pizza was delicious.

The new kid on the block, Double Mtn was started by former employees of Full sail and I must say that their beer kicks a$$. It seems by departing FS, the brewmasters at Double Mountain have released their inner brew hound and have surpassed all the breweries in town with the quality of their beer. Oh, and as an aside (and Im sure many will claim this as blasphemy) the Pizza is the best in a 50 mile radius. Casual with a mellow atmosphere, leave that big city 'tude at home because this is a true locals joint...low key and fun every night of the week.

Best brew pub in town and the best pizza too. Casual, friendly surrounds but can be difficult to find a table at times. The Double Mountain folks also bring in good, local music.

As most reviews will attest to, the beer is very, very good and the pizza is quite tasty. If your only agenda is to consume and not savor, then you won't mind that the atmosphere in this place is somewhat chaotic and the service is very disappointing. We went there around 5PM on a weekday: two beers, one side salad, and one pizza ordered... an hour and quarter later... we were still waiting on the pizza even though we ordered it within minutes of arriving! The best part was that there were people around us getting pizzas before us that came in after us! That is a major pet peeve of mine. I also couldn't get a refill on my water for anything. I suspect that our server forgot about us (even though we were sitting at the bar, two feet in front of her) because the pizza had that limp-been-sitting-under-a-lamp-waiting texture, but its tastiness overrode the neglect we encountered (once it finally appeared, we had to get it to go on account of the time everything took and yet there was not one smile of condolence or explanation, which goes a long way with me). I think they have a few kinks to iron out, but their product is genuinely good, so I hope these get worked-out so that people can enjoy what they offer.

We came in at 3pm and found the front room packed. There is another room to the right. You grab any table you can and once you have a table go to the bar for menus and ordering. They bring the food to you. It was awkward since we didn't understand the routine. After that, everything was great. The pizza was amazing and the BLTs looked really good too. Kids were welcomed and everything was very casual. There is no question that this is a brewery as the back room smells strongly of beer...which is a good thing in my opinion. I can't say enough how good the pizza was...I just wish I had a slice now.

Indian red ale with their truffle oil pizza - drool! Their waitstaff isn't the friendliest but their delicious beers and thin crust pizzas make up for it!

I very much enjoyed this place. Both the beer (you've got to try the Molten Lava) and pizza were fantastic. Good crowd and staff, too. Super-friendly all around. I'll certainly go back the next time I visit Hood River.
